The house and garden are on the edge of a village with great views, but are not overlooked. The quiet country lane passing by is masked by a hedge, The property is enclosed by hedges and gated, so is secure for young children – although because of the pool , they may not be left unattended unless it is covered. The property is on one level and suitable for wheelchair users. It comprises: Large dining/sitting room comfortably equipped with new furniture including large sofa. Large dining table seats 6-8, overlooking pool area. CD/tape/radio. Opens out through double doors onto veranda. Well equipped kitchen with new electric cooker, dishwasher and fridge freezer. 2 bedrooms with double beds 1 bedroom with 2 single beds Shower/bathroom and separate toilet Utility room including central heating boiler and washing machine. Garden furniture for external dining on the pool patio and hammocks swung between trees. The pool is maintained and open from May to October. Owner not on site.

St Marcellin lès Vaison is a little village just 2 kilometres from our local Roman market town of Vaison la Romaine. In summer watch the sun setting over the medieval castle in Vaison from the veranda. The immediate area is excellent for walking and cycling, with easy signposted routes, or for the more enthusiastic, leading up to the nearby impressive and challenging Mont Ventoux, a favourite of the Tour de France. Within 10/15 minutes drive in any direction there is a wide and wonderful choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. The historic and beautiful cities of Avignon and Orange are within 45 minutes drive, with Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Montpellier, the Camargue, the Ardeche gorges and the coast within very easy reach for day trips. Vaison la Romaine has extensive excavated Roman remnants and an attractive medieval upper town; together with a vibrant present centre of squares and cafes including a major market every week. The area is dominated by wine, olives and fruits.

Additional information about rental rates

  • •A single charge of 70 Euros per letting for linen and local management, additional to weekly rental, will be collected locally when providing the keys on arrival.
    •A pool company ensures high water quality, visiting weekly. The pool is normally open from May until the end of September.
    •All guests are expected to leave the property in the good state which they found it, including house and pool cleanliness, and ensuring supplies of general provisions for the house are maintained (e.g. toilet paper or salt - but not bread or eggs).
    A security deposit of £150 is payable with the balance and is returnable within 14 days of the period rented.
    A deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking. The balance is payable at least 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Fantastic week in Provence

Fantastic week here in July with friends. We used it as a base for riding the Etape du Tour and riding up Mont Ventoux. Lovely roads for cycling and also Vaison Les Romains close by for the Roman ruins.
The pool was lovely to come back to after a day out and eating meals on the terrace whilst watching the sunset - loved it.

Highly recommended..

Great value Villa

Had a great week here in August with my wife, father and 3 young children. The views, pool, shaded terrace and hammocks all successfully conspired to remove the stresses of life back home.

The Villa is great value, with everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. The location is also great - we only just scratched the surface of the surrounding area in a week. The proximity to Gigondas, Seguret, Vacqueyras and Beaume-de-Venise also make it an ideal spot for wine lovers.

Anyone staying with very young children should be aware that the pool is very close to the villa, so I'd recommend bringing a playpen as we did. Apart from this the place is fine for young children.

All in all, highly recommended. I simply can't imagine getting anything better for the price.
