Imagine a hidden paradise in the heart of the French countryside, where life is filled with simple pleasures: delicious food, fine wines and a secluded garden full of sunshine. Just a few hours south of Paris, this farmhouse is a true idyllic retreat, located in a tiny village that is nestled in a lush green valley. This rural part of France encourages a pace of life that allows for dreaming, relaxing and reconnecting with yourself and with others. Life flows with the rhythm of the days, eddies around meals, and pools deep and clear during late-night conversations under the brilliant stars. It’s a place to think and breathe. The main house has three bedrooms and one bathroom and the garden cabin (formerly la porcherie) has the fourth bedroom. In the private garden, there is a 180 degree view of the valley and the woods across the way. There are also many villages and towns of interest to explore in the area, many of which have shops, restaurants and outdoor markets.

Our French Farmhouse is situated in St Privat du Dragon, a tiny village of about 40 inhabitants, at the head of a picturesque valley in the Haute-Loire département in France. The general region is called the Auvergne; a large, mountainous area of central France. St Privat is about halfway between two large cities, Clermont-Ferrand and Le Puy en Velay (a stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago di Compostella), and the nearest towns are Brioude and Langeac (both at 15 kms). The Mediterranean is 2.5 hours by car (Montpellier), and Paris is 4.5 hours by train. There are lots of things to see and do: wine-tasting, buying fresh produce at the outdoor markets, shopping for antiques at local brocante markets, visiting châteaux & medieval churches, walking & biking in the beautiful countryside, practising French, savouring local specialities, and especially relaxing with a glass of wine in the secluded garden, delighting in the beautiful view.
