Portreath is a small coastal village which welcomes visitors warmly but also has its own community spirit. Its pubs and restaurants offer plenty of choice minutes from Kittiwake Cottage. Everyday needs are supplied by the supermarket/post office and a bakery.
The village is situated about halfway between well-known Cornish resorts Newquay and St. Ives and within a short drive of the beautiful Atlantic coast beaches in either direction – Porthtowan, St. Agnes, Perranporth and Godrevy, Gwithian, Hayle and Carbis Bay. Clifftop walks provide spectacular views in all seasons and a glimpse of Cornwall’s fascinating flora and fauna.
The cove itself encloses a safe, sandy beach for swimmers and surfers and stretches of low rocks, with a myriad of rock pools, populated by mini-communities of sea creatures and plants.
Truro and Falmouth are just fourteen miles away. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, St. Michael’s Mount, Padstow and Land’s End are all an easy drive.
