Hua-Hin General Information:
Our small fishing town 220 km South of Bangkok gained popularity after King Rama 4 built a Summer Palace in Petchaburi province circa 1859, and when the railway was extended South in 1922, Hua Hin became a place for the Thai and Western Aristocracy to come for holiday breaks. Shortly after the Beautiful Railway Station was constructed Thailand's first beach hotel was built, (now the Sofitel Hua Hin) followed by Thailand's first golf course, the Royal Hua Hin. Still retaining its 'Thai' identity, Hua Hin has now become a thriving holiday beach resort for local Thai people, and Westerners alike, and offers luxury and budget hotel accommodation to suite every pocket. Hua Hin still has a booming fishing industry, as well as being a major exporter of local pineapple. Coconut plantations, and marble quarries are also a thriving trade. Now, with his Majesty King Rama IX in permanent residence at his Hua Hin based Summer Palace 'Klai Kung Won' (Far from worries!).
