Well Cottage is a 2 bedroom character holiday cottage near Bath, Longleat and The Cotswolds. Situated in an idyllic village and ideal for couples seeking a romantic hideaway and also families with children.

King four poster bed, woodburner in inglenook fireplace, beams, fully equipped kitchen - in fact, all you could possibly want for your stay.

We supply freshly laundered bedlinens and towels within the rental cost and all electricity/gas etc is included as well as free Wi-fi for your laptop.

Well Cottage is the perfect character luxury holiday cottage situated in the picturesque rural Someset Village of Beckington just 12 miles from Bath. Weekly lets from Saturdays.

Train links to Frome (3 miles) and Bradford on Avon (6 miles) and a bus into Bath and Frome from the village. London Waterloo direct to Bradford on Avon.

Bath, Cheddar Caves, Wookey Hole and Longleat are major attractions. The cathedral cities of Wells, Glastonbury and Salisbury are all within an easy drive.

Beckington is a small, rural village but it does offer a superb pub and also 'Mes Amis', which is a gift shop and cafe serving sublime coffees, hot chocolate as well as soups, salads, scrumptious cakes, muffins and brownies.

Frome is 3 miles away and is full of quaint streets with independent shops and M&S food store as well as Sainsbury's.

Bath is 12 miles away and is a Mecca for shopping. Street (about 20 miles away) has an outlet centre called Clarks Village.

  • WEEKLY LETTINGS ARE PREFERRED. WE OFFER 3 NIGHT BREAKS WITHIN 4 WEEKS OF THE REQUIRED DATES... these will cost more per night than the pro rata weekly rate to cover the changeover costs.

    To make a booking, please double check with us that your dates are available (we may be hoding the dates for another guest) - we require a deposit of £100 to secure the dates and your reservation will be confirmed in writing. The balance is due at least 28 days prior to your arrival and then directions and key collection details will be sent.

    An initial supply of logs and kindling is provided for the wood burner for your first evening (more logs available at local 24 hour shop) during winter months.

Bath, Longleat and beyond....: The Somerset and Wiltshire areas have much to offer for adults and children alike. Bath and the Thermae Spa, Roman Baths and the Fashion Museum are must sees.

Famous films have been made in the area, including Harry Potter (Lacock village), War Horse (Castle Combe), Pride and Prejudice (Stourhead).

Longleat is a major attraction providing family entertainment as well as the superb house and park. Aqua Sauna at Center Parcs offers spa days.

For families, Brokers Wood and Bowood House have adventure playgrounds. Two locally renowned farm shops also have cafes and play areas - Woody's Farm Shop and Woodrow Farm shop which ahve childrens playgrounds.

The Cotswolds with beautiful honey stone cottages are not far away. Romantic walks whether spring, summer, autumn or winter.

Children and families: Plenty to do with a playground and fields a short walk away. Longleat, Bowood and Brokerswood all provide a full day out.

Pony trekking nearby - why not spend a day on horseback or book 'own a pony for the day' for your children and have the day to yourselves, sightseeing?

Beckington village is very family friendly and there is a playground and fields in which to expend any energy left over from your busy days sightseeing.

Mes Amis, a fab deli serves great hot chocolate, brownies as well as superb salads and lunches and the two local pubs are a short stroll away.

Well Cottage is provides a romantic hideaway or family holiday base for your holiday or vacation.

Golf:

Cumberwell park has 36 holes plus a driving range. Castle Combe, Winkworth and Kingsdown golf clubs are further afield.

Our stay at Well Cottage, Beckington

From the moment we arrived we just knew we were going to have a wonderful holiday. The cottage was everything we could have wished for, and Jan had provided us with everything we needed, plus those little extras we were not expecting! Loved the ‘walled garden’ and surprisingly (after all, it was October) we had lovely sunny weather and no rain! So breakfast outside was the order of the day. Not far to walk to the garage/shop for papers and supplies (or took the car), and that was open 24 hours! What struck us too was how quiet and peaceful Beckington was. An ideal village, with a bypass to take all that heavy traffic away, yet only a short drive from several major towns. There was a lovely delicatessen/tea rooms a few yards away in the village, and a couple of pubs too. We like ‘chef cooked food’, and we found an abundance of restaurants both in Frome and Bradford-on-Avon, and numerous ‘gourmet pubs’ in the surrounding villages. There was plenty to do. A couple of Country Parks close by, with walks round lakes and in woods; and the canal not far away either. We even managed a boat trip on the canal. Very relaxing! And even managed a show at the Theatre in Frome. And then there was Bath with all its attractions right on our doorstep. So, lovely cottage, lovely countryside, and a quiet relaxing holiday!

A lovely, cosy home from home cottage.

We spent the October half term in this beautiful cottage with our two young daughters. The moment we stepped in the door we felt relaxed, from the thoughtful welcome tray, to the ready set fire and, later that evening a courtesy call from the owner to check everything was ok. The cottage was beautifully decorated and contained everything we needed (and more!) It was ideally situated close to Longleat Safari Park, lots of National Trust properties, the beautiful towns of Frome and Bradford-on-Avon, and of course Bath itself. We would recommend this cottage to both family and friends and would definately consider visiting again! Thank you!

A lovely place to stay.

We were much impressed by our stay at the cottage and would highly recommend it to anybody - provided you can climb stairs! The cottage had heaps of character, nice furnishings, lovely beds and a well equipped kitchen/meals area plus free wifi. We found it spotlessly clean and well maintained - great job Jan!! As a bonus, the village of Beckington turned out to be another surprise with lovely stone buildings, a very historic church (where we found a lovely local lady doing some cleaning) and one of the best pubs anywhere just a very short walk from Well Cottage. Put it on the list if you are visiting the Bath area.

Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. Very comfortable living area and all top quality accesories (plates crockery towels etc) with lots of things like books and games to keep you amused if the weather is not great which in England, lets face it, it very rarely is. Well Cottage has lots of character and we will definitely be going back as it is ideally placed for a huge number of attractions within a short drive. The bottle of wine, loaf of bread milk and real butter (mmmmmm) were very much appreciated.

If there was one down side, and it really is a very small one as we have a 2 year old daughter, the stairs were a little steep and with no stair gate we had to watch her constantly while she was upstairs but that aside, it realy is a very welcoming cottage.

We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
