Located in the heart of the Dordogne (Aquitane) region, the sleepy hamlet of Bournazel is an ideal base for your holiday in the South West France. The neighbouring village of Lanquais is featured in The Most Beautiful Villages in the Dordogne and is within easy reach of Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Lascaux, Beynac and Monbazziliac as well as the medieval market town of Issigeac and Eymet

Lanquais (Lenicassium or Lino Cassium) owes its name to the oak and chestnut forests which covered the area during the Gallo-Roman era - notoriety has made it the setting of many legends - St Avit was supposed to have been born there in the fifth century and St Front more recently

The Farm stands within close proximity of the Chateau de Lanquais ;a 15th century castle referred to as the unachieved louvre of the Perigord - The owners used the same craftsmen who built the Louvre - The building dates back as far as the 13th Century and boasts Middle Age, Rennaisance and 19th century architecture

Family Holiday July 2011

Our two family holiday group consisting of 4 adults and 3 children ranging from 13 to 16 years old stayed in the Farmhouse in late July 2011.
We found the Farmhouse and facilities perfect for our stay, the kids particularly enjoyed the pool and the gardens.
The Farmhouse itself is clean, large, airy and well appointed, bedrooms are nicely decorated and the showers are fantastic.

The mezz floor is a really good idea for the kids, they spent the evenings watching DVD's and TV (limited Satellite channels) whilst the grown ups sat outside enjoying the sunsets.

We like to cook, and we found the crockery/utensils etc more than enough for us to enjoy ourselves.
We also used the really good BBQ on numerous occasions.

Local area is beautiful and quiet,the Chateau is a few minutes away as is the lake at the bottom of the hill, great for a paddle and a beer!

Places worth visiting are Sarlat and the cave at Prommusac and a really good day is Kayaking down the river Dordogne, well worth the aches.

The owners live next door,so they are on site for any advice or issues you may have.

If you are looking for a really nice Farmhouse, well appointed with beautiful scenery, lovely gardens and Pool in a lovely quiet area then this the place for you.

I would happily recommend the Farmhouse as a holiday destination, indeed I would be more than happy to holiday there again.

A perfect holiday

We were two couples, each with two children with ages between 3-8 years old. We had a great time. The house is perfect, clean, big, with swimmingpool, terrace, acres of land... There're a lot of things to do in the surroundings: visiting small villages, street markets, riding horses, etc... Ah! The hosts are fantastic people: nice, cosy... Conclusion: A perfect stay

A Winter Wonderland

After almost two months of staying at 'La Vieille Ferme' I have to say that it is with heavy heart that I am leaving. I was so excited to wake up on Christmas morning with a scattering of snow(first time in 25 years) and though it has been cold, most mornings have been fresh and sunny and could really imagine the property during the summer.... Hence us coming back for another week in June

Amazing week had by all!

We booked this gite for a group of 3 couples at the end of the summer after all the schools had gone back. It was a perfect stay and all of us had a great time despite the fact that we all had different tastes and would normally go on very different holidays. The house surpassed our expectations and every room was clean and well designed. There was plenty of room to spread out and could comfortably sleep more than the 6 of us, especially if there were kids staying. The grounds were enormous and overlooked by nothing except for a few horses. The pool was a perfect size and again completely private. The owners were friendly and helpful but never intrusive. It felt like we had our own perfect house in the Dordogne for a week! As mentioned in previous reviews they were perfectly happy to recommend local places or restaurants etc and could not have been more welcoming. Having visited the Dordogne many times before I cannot recommend this gite highly enough. We have already booked to go back next year.

Perfect Relaxing Holiday

I stayed at this delightful gite this year and found that it lived up to the description on the site,if not more. The gite has been lovingly restored and i found it to be clean and well cared for.It was spacious and had a modern feel to it,but it still maintained a country rustic theme. The owners of the property couldnt of been more helpful without being intrusive,they have a good knowledge of the local area and recommended some lovely restaurants for us,they even made the reservations for us as our french is not that brilliant!
The garden and pool is private and backs on to an amazing view of the French countryside.There are woods at the back of the property which you are also able to walk in.
There is lots to do in the area,i myself went horse riding at the local stables (again organized for us by the owners of the property) There is also the opportunity to go canoeing on the Dordogne river.There always seemed to be a night market on in the local area which is great for good food & drink that doesn't cost a lot.However it was also great to be able to relax in the evening in the garden by the pool with a glass of french wine and listen to the sounds of the countryside.
I would definately recommend this property to my friends and family,and i myself would love to return next year!
