Torquay in enjoying something of a renaissance with British visitors and the same things which have always attracted travellers still hold true: sun,sand and a sense of fun. At the turn of the century grand villas and mansion houses were built to welcome visitors and they still grace much of this elegant seaside town. Today, Torquay remains very much a seaside resort and its heartbeat is the picturesque harbour. Lined with a good mix of cafes, bars, top-class restaurants and great shopping. Around Torbay 20 beaches and coves are doted along 22 miles of coastline including Torre Abbey Sands and around the Bay to the sheltered coves of Meadfoot and the rock pools at Corbyn Head. Walkers can follow the south west coastal path and discover deserted coves and amazing vistas out across the sea. Nearby attractions include Brixham fishing harbour, the spectacular cliff top nature reserve of Berry Head, Dartmouth and delightful Cockington village with its thatched cottages and tea rooms.

Notes: The interior of this property is entirely new. Quarter sawn American Oak flooring in bedrooms and living area. Bathrooms & Kitchen area have ceramic tile floors. Furnishings are from North Carolina and have been selected to be in tune with the 1920 features of the main house. When guests are in residence the main house is not used. This ensures total privacy and also gives guests private use of half an acre of lawns, shrubbery and terrace right on the edge of the waters of Torbay, looking out across the sea. The coastline curves around and you can see over to Paignton, Brixham fishing harbour and all the way out to Berry Head lighthouse

Beautiful Cottage and Location

West Wing is a beautiful cottage and ideally situated on the cliffs between Torquay and Paignton. The cottage has been converted to a very high standard, and the garden is very large and well maintained; our dogs loved chasing the wood pigeons! We would definitely recommend staying here to our friends, but with a warning about the stairs to get to the bedrooms. They are quite steep and tight, and could be a challenge for the less nimble or young children.

Excellent Property in amazing setting

We went with our 1 year old son and had an amazing week. The property is really well finished and perfect for a short break.
What really sets it apart from other places we have stayed is the beautiful gardens, terraces and view. The weather was gorgeaous and we enjoyed walking around the gardens helping our son to start walking.
It is located about 30 mins walk from either Torquay or Paignton and as we liked walking was perfect not to need to use the car as there is lots to see and do in the area.
The highchair and cot provided are of good quality and although we brought our own we shouldnt have bothered.
Would definatley recommend this apart from anyone with mobility issues (quite a narrow spiral staircase and no downstairs loo) or semi mobile very young kids as the stairs could be a worry. As our son is not yet self mobile this was not a problem.

All in all a top end place that would also suit couples who could enjoy a bottle of wine an one of the best views around.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Devon Retreat

Having just returned from a weeks stay at the West Wing, I can only say how delighted we were with this accomodation. Just as beautiful as the pictures and twice (at least ) as comfortable. The garden was a joy and entirely safe for dogs. The spiral staircase was a bit daunting at first, especially for my 85 yr old mother, but within a few trips we all got the hang of it and it hindered us not a bit. The beds were outstanding in comfort and it was a huge treat to be able to enjoy the night lights coming from the distant bay and towns of Paignton and Brixham from the warmth and comfort of our bed, with the french doors open all night. The peace and quiet was much appreciated and unexpected as we were actually not tooo far off the main road, you really could not hear a single peep.

Bathrooms were a hoot!!!! and beautiful to boot. More storage, (ie shelving) although probably detracting from the "look", would be my only real request.

The kitchen was more than adequate, with full appliances, and the cherry on the cake was being able to do laundry in the oversized American wahing machine and dryer.

All in all, a superb apartment/accomodation , Holiday-Rentals have never let us down, and we have used them many times over many years...
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Wonderful 3 days

We stayed here for 3 nights in March, what a beautiful house, the views were stunning, and had the weather been better, time in the garden overlooking the sea exceptional, the house had everything and was a real home from home, the two bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms with huge showers, and a bath if wanted. the only minor thing was the spiral staircase which was difficult to get up/down expecially with suitcases. I would go again and hopefully will in the future. this house is especially good for 2 couples. thank you very much for making the wing of the house so beautiful, we loved it.
