Cappa House is a recently renovated farmhouse with stunning sea and mountain views. The property has 3 en-suite bedrooms including master bedroom with sun-room. There is a large modern well equipped kitchen/dining room with oak units and a utility room for laundry, storage etc. The open plan living area has a large stone fireplace with a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings. Leading off this area is the front sun room with breathtaking views over Coulagh Bay where you can sit in the evening and enjoy the dramatic sunsets. Also on the ground level is a large family bathroom. The master bedroom is also located on the ground floor and along with an en-suite shower this area also has its own sun-room with views over to the village of Eyeries and can accommodate extra guests with a pull out sofa bed. Bedrooms 2 and 3 on the first floor are also both double rooms with en-suite shower rooms and are flooded with light as both have 2 windows each and 10 ft high ceilings.

The Beara Peninsula is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas in all of Ireland. Located on the north side of the Beara Peninsula Cappa House has fantastic views over Coulagh Bay and Kilcatherine Point and beyond to the Iveragh Peninsula in Co Kerry.It is an ideal location to explore not only the Ring of Beara but also the Ring of Kerry. The location is a walkers paradise with a loop of the Beara Way Walking route ajoining the property.This beautifully restored farmhouse is located 1.2 miles from the colourful village of Eyeries, 9 miles from Allihies(Copper Mines and sandy Ballydonegan Beach), 5 miles from the fishing port of Castletownbere and Bere Island to the south and 30 miles from the upmarket town of Kenmare in Co Kerry. Other areas of interest include Dursey Island cable car, Dunboy Castle and woods, Healy Pass, Garnish Island near Glengarriff village and Dzogchen Beara Buddhist Centre. Notes: Broadband access is now available in Cappa House for a small extra fee and must be prebooked. Mobile phone reception and broadband available for 'smart phones' in area. There are also two supermarkets in Eyeries and a large Super-Valu in Castletownbere. The 'garden' consists of wooden fenced area with gravel with outdoor seating and barbecue and views of sea and mountains and plenty off road parking. There is a large downstairs bathroom that may accommodate some wheelchairs and also large downstairs bedroom with low light switches etc The water supplied to the house is from a deep well on the property and is of excellent quality. Cappa House is a traditional Irish farmhouse that has been lovingly restored to a high standard of luxury and 2010 was its first season on the holiday rental market. Be one of the first to sample its delights! One of the main attractions of Cappa House is its proximity to the Beara Way Walking/Cycling Route.

The walking route,which covers over 208km in total, is divided into several loop routes of varying lenghts to suit every type of walker and their individual ability and is mostly over hills and through farmlands. The cycling route is 138km in total and passes through all the towns and villages of the Beara Peninsula. More detailed info is available on Beara Tourism website. The walkway is on your doorstep at Cappa House and pick up and drop off can be arranged for walkers on any part of Beara Way walking route for your convenience. Maps of walking/cycling routes are available in the information folder in Cappa House.

Village of Eyeries and surrounding areas.: The village of Eyeries is about 5 mins drive or 20 mins walk away from Cappa House. The pubs in Eyeries are traditional in style with music during the summer weekends where you can enjoy a quiet drink or even dance a set if the humour takes you! The village is famous for its many colourful houses and business premises and has won several awards for for tidiness and presentation. It has one supermarket and also a Post Office with a shop for all your daily needs. Auntie May's Restaurant is a new and very welcome addition to the village for evening dining and there is also a cafe serving a variety of homebaking,soup etc

The village of Ardgroom (5miles) and Allihies(9miles) also have several shops,pubs and restaurants while Castletownbere (5miles) is the main shopping town of Beara with a variety of pubs, shops and restaurants to suit every budget.

Activities:Horseriding/Fishing/Playgrounds: Horseriding is available in Lios Lara Riding Stables in Castletownbere. (Contact Julie O'Neill 00353861721279)

There are over 20 fishing spots signposted on the Beara coastline where a visitor can fish. No permit is needed as this is sea fishing. You can catch mackeral,pollock,conger etc. Fishing rods and tackle can be puschased from most villages and towns.

A new childrens playground has recently opened in Travara strand in Urhan less than 2 miles from Cappa House on the Allihies road and close to the Urhan Inn pub, post office and national school.

There is also a larger playground in Castletownbere and playgrounds in village of Allihies, Glengarrif and also outside town of Kenmare.

Golf:

There is a nine hole links course at Berehaven Golf Club approx 3 miles outside town of Castletownbere on the Glengarrif road. There are also golf courses in Glengarrif (25miles), Kenmare(30miles) and Killarney (50 miles).

I'll be back!!!

Top marks all round. I agree with all the positive comments on this site. We stayed for 2 nights and the only problem I had was we wanted to more time as it was just a perfect break. Fran was so helpful, the house was perfect on all fronts, warm, cosy, well equipped, child friendly, adult friendly, comfortable beds, clean, clean clean. The cooker worked perfectly even the oven (from experience these can let you down badly in holiday rentals but this was just like home). We enjoyed a lovely sunset and all that that eyeries had to offer. We will definitely return for a longer stay. I'd imagine it would be a perfect little spot for a cosy christmas stay!!! Thanks Fran.

The Day Began With Rainbows

Getting up early the first morning and looking out over the bay there was a beautiful rainbow. The bed had been very comfortable, the shower hot and now we made coffee in the spotless and well-appointed kitchen. Sitting down in the sunroom we drank our coffee and watched as showers and sunshine swept across the landscape alternating with rainbows. The walk to the beach took us past profuse banks of the orange lily Montbrecia and purple loosestrife. After a breathtakingly refreshing swim we went to pub in Eyeries for a couple of pints of Guiness - then 2 km back to Cappa house where we prepared a delicious Sunday dinner. Short excursions with the car (Ring of Beara) were very rewarding and certainly not as filled with tourist traffic as the Ring of Kerry or the Dingle peninsula - but certainly just as lovely.

Magnificent

What can I say? We had a brilliant time at Cappa house. The house was all comfortable, the rooms were tidy, the kitchen offered everything one can wish for. We felt cosy from the very beginning. Eyeries is a lovely place as is the whole of this magnificant peninsula. Cappa house provides amazing views especially when the sun sets. A million thanks to Fran who looked after us and made sure we'd find our way around. There was information on what to do on and around Beara and Fran also provided us with information on what was currently on in Beara (special thanks for the sheep dog - trial, I would not have wanted to miss out on that one!)
Lovely house, a warm and welcoming hostess - we are certainly looking forward to our next visit! BRILLIANT, THANK YOU!

The surroundings: amazing views, fresh breeze from the sea, private and peaceful.
The house: spotlessly clean and VERY well-equipped especially kitchen, "like home", everything you need, lots of pillows, throws, candles, toiletries, enjoyable for kids (LOTS of DVDs, books and toys), information packs, good mattresses, bed linen and towels, 4 bathrooms, fireplace, barbeque and outside table, definitely 5* self-catering accommodation.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
