romantic holiday

Review Submitted: January 23, 2012 Date of Stay: August 2011
We really enjoyed every moment from our arrival in the middle of one of the most translucently amazing sunsets any of us will ever see, to our final morning's walk up 'telephone mast hill' to witness the amazing, ever-changing panorama from the loch to the highlands. Oak Cottage was a delight for us, everybody agreed...from the five year old to the 60 year old and everyone else in between, including our wheaten terrier...an extremely comfortable, spacious, well appointed haven which has been lovingly restored and designed to a very pleasing aesthetic. The owners/creators of this idyll are incredibly hospitable and shared a fine wee dram or two with us.To sum up...a little piece of Heaven on right here on Earth.

Empfehlenswert!

Review Submitted: July 29, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011

Oak Cottage at Finnich Steading

Review Submitted: May 16, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011
From the offset of booking our short 4 day break at Oak Cottage, through to our departure, Marguerite and Andrew ensured our stay was relaxing and trouble free. The accommodation has been built and maintained to a very high specification and is immaculately presented. All the essentials for a family are on hand (including the very well tempered labrador to play with) and being able to watch the children playing in the fields and woods without a care in the world was in itself relaxing for us. The walks in the local area were peaceful, with the call of the cuckoo, deer silhouetted on the hilltop and new born lambs everywhere. The views of Ben Lomond from the bedroom window was fabulous!

As a base for exploring South West Scotland, the location was perfect. On the relatively quiet roads (compared to the South East of England) and through spectacular scenery, we ventured through Argyll, being at Loch Fyne and Inverary Castle and Jail to the West and Stirling Castle to the East in less than an hour. The shores of Loch Lomond were just minutes drive away.

The local hostelries in Drymen and Balloch served great food and good quality local produce was widely available in the local villages - the smoked salmon from Inverawe Smokery was excellent.

Looking for a wonderful place to stay ?"

Review Submitted: April 27, 2011 Date of Stay: December 2010
We can fully recommend Finnich Cottages to spend your holidays! Our first visit was in Spring and we were happily surprised by the beautiful atmosphere, the clean, comfortable and well equipped cottages like Oak and Birch as well as the ever so friendly and caring owners.
Situated in this beautiful part of Scotland, one will never get bored and therefore we came back at Christmas for the second time. Once more, we felt very much at home!
