Surroundings:
The romantic Waldecker region can be easily reached from Helminghausen. Hiking, biking, inline skating and tennis are available on location. The riding yard in the neighbouring town is very suitable for children. Hochsauerland can be easily reached. Marsberg, which is only 8 km away, offers beside the shopping facilities, many historical objects of interest, as well as mine which can be visited. The town region Canstein has a castle, which can also be visited, at request. Bad Arolsen is more than worthy for a daytrip. We kindly recommend a guided tour through the city and a tour through the baroque castle of the noble family in Waldeck and Pyrmont. In May, there is the yearly baroque festival in Bad Arolsen. They take place under different mottos. You can shop in Kassel or Paderborn. They are located approx. 40 km away and can be reached via A44.
Sport:
All sorts of water sports are possible on the Lakes Twiste, Diemel and Eder. Beside the usual bathing fun, you can also surf and dive. If the water happens to be cold once, then you can still use ‘Arobella’ in Bad Arolsen and the ‘Centerpark’ in Medebach. Indoor possibilities for relaxation are also available. If you want to play golf, the golf courses with 9 wholes in the neighbouring place Westheim is very suitable. The ideal place for all type of winter sports is the close region Hochsauerland.

Hochsauerland offers wonderful possibilities for all the winter sport enthusiasts. You can either involve yourself actively, or be a spectator of the numerous sport events. There is a large variety of entertaining activities.
