Incredible Comfort, Convenience & Style

Review Submitted: November 12, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
This lovely apartment surpasses expectations and offers excellent value in a prime neighbourhood of an expensive city.

My husband and I are seasoned travellers who are increasingly picky about vacation lodgings. Even taking into consideration our experiences with higher end accommodations, this well-appointed apartment is by far one of our favourites.

From the moment the friendly owner Biei greeted us at the apartment, we knew we had made the right choice. The place is very tastefully decorated with a soothing, minimalistic style; it is meticulously maintained and clean. Everything is laid out to make the best use of the available space.

After staying at a number of typical (and tiny) business hotels in other parts of Japan, this apartment felt downright luxurious and large! It felt decadent to hide our suitcases in the large walk-in closet and to sit at the kitchen table enjoying a snack prepared in the modern kitchen. In the evening, it was nice to relax on the couch by tucking in to one of the many books in the apartment's library or by using the WiFi to plan the next day's adventure.

Having spent the few weeks prior travelling around, it was a treat to have a base that felt like a home. More than just a place to crash, we felt like we had come home at the end of a busy day of exploring. We were grateful to not have to worry about little details like getting dish soap or laundry detergent. The owners have thought of all the essentials so guests can just enjoy their holidays.

We'd stock up on beer and other indulgences for an evening in and make sure to have supplies for a breakfast at home the next morning. Everything you would want to make a basic meal is steps away: 7-11 and Lawson were around the corner and a basic grocery store is but a few blocks walk.

Various Metro stations are accessible by foot so travel to all areas of Tokyo is easy. Akasaka itself is very central and lively with plenty of bars and restaurants that are no strangers to foreigners with limited Japanese language ability. Roppongi is a very short walk away too so there is no shortage of eating, drinking and entertainment nearby.

Thankfully, despite being so centrally located, the apartment is situated on a quiet residential street so noise is not an issue at night. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed. Importantly for Canadians in Tokyo in the summer, the air conditioners work like a charm!

We loved our stay and hope to return soon!

Nothing less then perfect!

Review Submitted: July 12, 2011 Date of Stay: December 2010
You won't know what your missing until you go! you will love this place. My partner and I stayed here in Dec 30-Jan 4, we were met by Bieis' parents, both whom were very humble and welcoming, something we had experienced all over Japan. I can say a thousand great things about this place, it is close to restuarants, grocery store, the metro, and many other great things. But you won't know how great it really is until you go. You will love it! I promise!

Cracking!

Review Submitted: January 6, 2011 Date of Stay: November 2009
We booked this apartment after our original honeymoon in June had to be cancelled (thanks BA cabin crew).

I have always preferred apartment rather than hotel accomodation - especially as there is rarely any difference in the price but you have so much more room and flexibility.

Given the price and size of (decent) Tokyo hotels I thought it would be beneficial to look for an apartment and I am delighted to have Biei's apartment.

The kitchen was small but fully equipped, the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The apartment is idealy located for accessing all that Tokyo has to offer with all the main districts and areas an easy metro ride away.

The washing machine was a bit plus as it meant we could take fewer clothes with us and take home more Japanese goodies! Bearing in mind it was -19 at home whilst we were away the heated toilet seat did make us giggle.........

Biei was a pleasure to deal with from initial enquiry all the way through to returning the deposit. The property was very clean and tidy, we were met by Biei's parents who were very pleasant.

A very comfortable place to stay and would recommend it to anybody. We are both 30 years old and we thought it was great.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing our flat for your once cancelled honeymoon, we were quite pleased to know you managed to escape from the big freeze back home and had a very mild autumn days of Tokyo. Our only regret is I couldn't get to meet you personally. Maybe next time? Who knows.

Wonderful home away from home

Review Submitted: November 24, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
This was definitely one of our favorite places that we have ever stayed in, and we recommend it highly to any other couple who wants to stay in Tokyo for an extended period, living more like a local than a tourist.

The apartment is immaculately clean, very well maintained, furnished very well, and just incredibly comfortable. Small but well equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed, comfy couch for relaxing, kitchen table for breakfast, great shower / wet room, fast wireless internet, and big walk-in closet to stow away all luggage and clothes. Having a place like this to come home to after a long day of sight-seeing contributed to making our trip to Tokyo one of our best trips ever. For 1-2 people, it truly is a perfect amount of space.

Biei was great from initial inquiry, through paying the deposit and balance. She met us at the apartment when we arrived to give us the keys and introduce the place, then again when we departed. Sent us all the important information of getting to the place, instructions for cab driver, etc.

The location is excellent, as the immediate neighborhood is quiet, but very central so just a short subway ride from all of the central Tokyo neighborhoods. Just a block off the main street of Akasaka, where walking east will take you to the subway stop in 10 mins, and a busy area of restaurants, bars in 20 mins. Other direction will take you to Tokyo Midtown (with a large and very nice grocery store) in about 20 mins. Closer there is a Post Office next door (with an international ATM) plus a 7-11 about 5 mins away (also intl ATM), small grocery store and other restaurants 10 mins away.

We particularly liked two restaurants in the immediate area: Uoshin Nogizaka (casual seafood dining-bar) on the way to Tokyo Midtown (about 15 mins), and Takewaka (very nice set menu) near the business tower. But it's really hard to go wrong in the busy restaurant area where we went to a few different random places which were all very good. Mostly locals and business people in this neighborhood, barely any tourists.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Thank you for your detailed review. It is nice to have people mentioning restaurants they discovered as you could see it is just impossible for us to try all the local eateries! The rows of streets in Akasaka is called by foreign musicians 'streets of thousands restaurants', now you know why. Many thanks.

Fantastic place to stay in Tokyo

Review Submitted: November 23, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
We stayed at the appartment for 4 days and this was the most perfect place to stay in Tokyo. The appartment was spacious enough (especially compared to a hotel room) with really nice furnishing. The appartment was a great place to come back to and relax between siteseeing and shopping, and it was great that it offered the possibility to prepare breakfast or meals.
The location is quite central in Tokyo and the distance to Akasaka subway station is approximately a five minute walk away. Roppongi Hills is also closeby.
We were greeted by the owner´s parents who were really nice and helpful, as was Biei, the owner, who let us stay in the appartment for another single night at the end of our round trip. A great extra was the beer and milk waiting for us in the refridgerator... especially after a tiresome 18 hour trip from Germany. Overall, we can just recommend this appartment to anyone looking for a special place to stay in Tokyo. We would really like to come back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for posting a really nice review. Hope you will come back one day to explore more of unknown areas in Japan just like the way you did this time. Also, I would like to thank you for looking after the place, greatly appreciated.
