Sports:
Cyclists and hikers will appreciate the wide variety of cycling routes and hiking paths in the Luberon, as well as in the area surrounding the Monts de Vaucluse and Mont Ventoux. Thousands of cyclists every year attempt the ride across Mont Ventoux, a yearly feature of the Tour de France. There are also 700 km’s of riding paths and a large number of stables, as well as kayaking on the Sorgue and the Durance and rock-climbing in the Luberon (near Buoux) and in the Dentelles de Montmirail.
Culture, Art and Antiques:
Monuments, monasteries, churches, palaces, castles and gardens in historical cities like Avignon (30 km), Nimes (60 km), Orange (50 km) and Aix (70 km) are open to the visitor all year round. A huge range of music and theatre events is also on offer for most of the year: opera festivals in Aix, Orange or Lacoste, theatre festivals in Avignon, piano festivals in Laroque d’Anthéron, as well as jazz concerts and interesting galleries in many of the smaller towns and villages in the area. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its 7 “antiques villages”, offers the second-biggest selection of antiques in France (after Paris). An antiques fair is held every weekend as well as bigger events at Easter, on 15 August, and in the middle of November
Directions:
From the Rhone-valley highway A6 take the exit “Avignon-Sud”, then continue driving in the direction of Sisteron/Apt. Turn left at the millstone of the St. Augustin oil mill., about 2.5 km’s after Coustellet on the left-hand side of the RN100. Follow the signposts to the Mas des Roses.
