The surrounding Torrox:
Torrox Pueblo lies almost 4 km from the coast of the Costa del Sol (English: Sun coast), somewhat in the inland region at a height of around 166 meter. It is approx. 48 km to the international airport of Malaga. Torrox, with approx. 11,000 inhabitants is divided into Torrox Pueblo (Torrox Village) and Torrox Costa (Torrox on the coast). The market place of Torrox Pueblo (Plaza de la Constitución) with its conspicuous church. You can snack here in one of the many cafes or enjoy the traditional Cafe con leche (or sombra or solo ...) in peace. The village life pulsates around the market place with its bars and restaurants in which you can enjoy the Tapas and the vin ordinaire from the surroundings. The steep alleys remind time and again of the Arabian roots, which you can also see in the old names: Almedina, Barut, Andazalia, Bola, Beso, Alamos, las Moreras.
Nerja:
Nerja is situated in the eastern part of the Axarquia region, at a distance of 50 km from Malaga and at the border of the province of Granada. A fishing village of Arabic origin, its name was derived from the Arabic word 'Naricha' (abundant fountains), offering a favoured climate and a lovely, dreamlike landscape, where impressive steep coasts alternate with sandy beaches. Nerja has a cuisine typical to the Mediterranean: Tortillitas de bacalao con miel de caña (stockfish oatcake with honey), Migas (fried bread crumbs with garlic) and fresh water fish are a part of the native cooking.
Malaga :
Malaga – “beautiful city of the paradise. You seem to rule under the sky, over the water and in the midst of the heavens”, Malaga was described in this words by the poet Vicente Aleixandre. Malaga, the provincial capital inhabited by several Mediterranean civilizations for over 2,000 years, embodies a simultaneously modern and traditionally rich town. A happy and busy town is spread out under the strict care of the Gibralfaro castle where innumerable charming little places, like the 'Alameda Principal' or the seafront 'La Farola': a city, in the popular district, like 'El Perchel' or 'La Trinidad' can be discovered. Today, thanks to its mild climate, its beaches as well as the unsurpassable selection of golf courses, Malaga embodies - apart from its characteristic as the capital of the region of Costa del Sol - one of the most important tourist destination of Spain.
