Location:
The villa is situated in ‘Domaine de la Vallee’, a beautiful development of villas covering a hillside bordering the coastline at Gigaro. Gigaro is in the Commune of ‘La Croix-Valmer’, a village 5 mins by car which has everything for day-to-day needs and a provencal market on Sundays. Gigaro is on the Sentier du Littoral and the commune stretches from Gigaro to Cap Lardier and Cap Taillat, an area of outstanding natural beauty preserved by the French Littoral Conservation Society. The villa is 800m from Gigaro beach, a 6 km stretch of beach with several nice restaurants and areas where beds and parasols can be hired daily. There are many sports available and a sailing school operates from the Plage du Debarquement nearby. Boats go to the Iles d’Or or Poquerolles from June onwards. These islands are well worth a visit and Port Cros is a designated National Park. The legendary ‘Man in the Iron Mask’ was supposed to be imprisoned there.
Accomodation and Facilities:
A private drive leads to the gates of the villa. In the front is a large paved area with lemon tree and the side garden. The villa faces due south and is surrounded by garden of 1600sqm and enclosed by trees. The main lawn is flat and there is a gently sloping lawn to the side with mimosa trees. There is a large double garage to the front. The front door leads into the sitting room with dining area, chairs, double sofabed and open fireplace. An arch at the rear of the room leads through to the fitted kitchen. The ceilings throughout are high and beamed. The kitchen is fitted with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, hob, microwave and separate small electric oven. Double doors open onto a large south-facing patio with electric awning. There is a TV, DVD player and a music centre. A passageway leads through to a shower room and separate WC and further to 2 bedrooms facing south and west.
The south-facing bedroom has a double bed and TV with double doors opening on to the terrace, the west facing has a double and single bed. A cot and high chair are also available. Outside, there is a double shower room and W.C. for easy showering on return from the beach and a drying area. The entire peninsula is steeped in history and is backed by the Massif des Maures covered with dense forest a great many great estates and archaeological ruins as at La Garde Freinet where there is a 12th century fort. The medieval villages of Gassin and Ramatuelle are also very beautiful. St Tropez is 15 mins away and from the hillside above on a clear day you have a wonderful view of the snowclad Alpes Maritimes. St Tropez offers all the fun you would imagine with wonderful shopping and a buzzing nightlife. Cavalaire, 10 mins west of Gigaro, is another yachting centre with a lively nightlife. There are all kinds of restaurants in the area from gourmet to pizzas cooked in traditional wood ovens.
