The Lake Theissee:
The lake Theis, with a surface of 127 km² is the second biggest lake in Hugary, after the Lake Balaton. This lake was formed 20 years ago, through the congestion of the river Theiß. The lake has been partially declared a nature reserve (bird sanctuary). The biggest part of it, however, is still open to water sports, fishing and bathing. Unlike on the Balaton, here you are also allowed to use motor boats. The Lake Theis is a real fishermen’s paradise. Here you can find catfish, pikes, carps, and even sturgeons without great efforts. Even the beginners are lucky here! Boat rentals are available by the lake.
Tiszafüred:
In Tiszafüred, there is a daily vegetables market, where you can find fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, flowers, etc. Moreover, merchants and private people organize a second big market, which takes place twice a week (on Thursdays and on Saturdays). On this market, you can find clothing, jewellery clocks, tools, books, oil paintings and rummage. There are a lot of shops, where you can buy everything you need for the daily life. You will find many grocery discounts and many small stores. Each year in July there are the “Fishermen’s Days” in Tiszafüred. On this occasion, many dance and music bands from the entire Hungary gather and enrich the very impressive program. The Festival doesn’t attract only guests from Hungary, but also people from the whole Europe. Moreover, there are competitions and games, so that every taste can be fulfilled.
Trip possibilities:
In Puszta, you can enjoy the Animals and Costumes Show, the petting zoo, the sightseeing flights, etc. The town is well known for its wine cellars and for the historical center and castle. In Miskolc you can find a cave thermal pool. Tokaj is a famous vineyard region. The mountains Bükk offer a wonderful landscape with lakes, waterfalls and woods. In Gödöllö, there is the castle of the Empress Sissi. Szilvásvárad is the homeland of the Lipizzaner horses, and Aggtelek impresses with its stalactite caves, up to Czech Republic. Budapest is a capital with a lot of spirit.
