The Cottage with two apartments is situated in peaceful location with separate entrance from the backyard - just 300 metres away from the mountain station of the “Oberweißbacher Bergbahn”. Each apartment contains a living room with a sleeping couch, a bedroom and a bathroom with shower and toilet. Satellite TV, radio, coffee machine and a kitchen cupboard with fridge and two hotplates are in the living room. There is also a backyard with a barbeque grill and a sandpit for children, a terrace, garden furniture, table-tennis table (on demand) and a sauna. You will have already quilt covers and a set of towels in your apartment. Our apartments are located at a beautiful sunny view position at the top of the mountain ridge above the “Schwarzatal” with fresh air, refreshing silence, friendly hosts and day trips to the Thuringian classic cities: Weimar 55 km, Erfurt 55 km, Rudolstadt 30km, Arnstadt 35 km, Jena 70 km and Eisenach 100 km.

For the railway-fan

At the mountain station of our historic cable railway is an exhibition with many interesting things about the technique and the history of the “Oberweißbacher Bergbahn”. Since 2002 is the railway carried on with the train which runs in the “Schwarzatal”. The extension of the “Bergbahn” is an electric rail railcar, which connects Lichtenhain with the neighbour towns Oberweißbach and Cursdorf. You can also use from the valley station “Obstfelderschmiede” the train through the “Schwarzatal”. Annual highlights are: Celebration of the “Oberweißbacher Bergbahn” in Lichtenhain at the ascension of the Christ and the “nostalgia of steam” with many steam railways in the “Schwarzatal”. The mountain station is also the rail station of the “Lichtenhainer Waldeisenbahn”, a small-time railway which is build and looked after by the Jena railway friends (rides and exhibitions).

For the nature and hiking fan

You can take long walks and mountain bike tours from Lichtenhain through the biggest attached forest of Germany. The “Rennsteig”, the ridge way in the Thuringian Forest is just 10 km away. The maximum high above sea-level is 1000 metres. You are also in the traditional Thuringian spice garden. There are also some sightseeing places in the very next area, great for a short trip: the observation tower and restaurant “Fröbelturm”, the observation tower 'Meuselbacher Kuppe', dam Leibis and Deesbach, Barigauer observation tower, the Long Mountain wit monument and forest cottage .

For the art and culture historic fan

You are living in a peaceful mountain area, not far away from the Thuringian classic cities Erfurt, Weimar, Eisenach, Rudolstadt and Arnstadt. Because of the many years standing fragmenting in small principalities arose a lot of castles and palaces in an extraordinarily small area. Two examples: One of the biggest castles is the “Heidecksburg” in Rudolstadt and the famous “Wartburg” in Eisenach, where Martin Luther translated the bible.
