If you rather spend your holiday in a small Cretan mountain village than in a big hotel near the crowded beach, than our houses are the right choice for you! The houses are standing between old, shade giving fruit trees, so that there is always the choice between sunbathing and the cooler shady places. From both houses you have a wonderful far view into the valley, partly you can even see the sea! The small pool is wonderfull for cooling down on a hot day! Both houses are also a good choice for your winterholiday because on cool evenings they are heatable with eather a fireplace or a woodstove. And there will also in winter be sun on the terraces! In Winter the area is green with lots of flowers and the fruit trees will be full of fruit. Have you ever thought of spending Christmas on Crete?

Details for House 1 in Lassithi, Crete, Greece

House 1 is an old Cretan country house. Is was completely renovated and enlarged in 1995 and now accommodates from 3-4 persons. The roof terrace has wonderful views over the village and the lower valley towards south-west. In the north you can see the sea through the olive trees. The kitchen is spacious and very well equipped with a gas stove, an electric stove with oven and a fridge with an integrated freezer box. In the cosy living room there is a pull-out sofa in front of the open fireplace. There are also heaters for the colder winter evenings. The bedroom has a French style bed (160x200) and a wardrobe. Mosquito nets in front of the windows guarantee undisturbed sleep. The bathroom has a hot shower. There is a washing machine for free use of both houses in a little extra shed. On the hot days in summer you will be happy to cool down in the little pool, which gets shared by both houses. House 2 is far enough away and vision protected by trees that you will have privacy.

the wonderful area

In the neighbouring village (ca. 500 m distance) there is a restaurant and 2 mini markets where you can get your food basics. Almost daily mobile traders drive through the village and offer fruit, vegetables, bread or fish. In the garden you find trees of oranges, lemons and other fruits, and sometimes the neighbours come with fresh harvested vegetables. In winter the whole area is green, everything starts to grow and bloom. If you want to pick your own oranges then Kato Dris is the right place for you. Under the old olive trees there will be a carpet of clover with yellow blossoms. Behind the houses the mountains are about 800 m high and invite for walks. Also in winter you will have sunny days you can spend at the beach and enjoy the evening in front of a cosy fire in the wood stove.

The beach of Sitia is about 9 km away. The palm beach of Vai, the monastary of Toplou, the archeological sites in Kato Zakros and the lonely beaches of the east and south coast are less then 1 h by car.
