Summary of the apartment, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4

You will be occupying half of a four sided house in one of the smallest villages in the Wendland area. We live in the other part of the house, facing the village square, our family is composed of a painter, a journalist, a friendly dog called Lilla and a tomcat called Qui Quec. Your part opens out to the site, on the end of which the Muehlbach flows by. Our Peking ducks live here. The guests have their own seating area and lounges outside. In the covered entrance to the apartment there is a dining area protected by the rain. The roomy bathroom is located on the ground floor. The hallway with wardrobe leads in to the kitchen/living room. On the next floor, large study with small library and TV with Arte and 3sat. On this floor you can find the first living/bedroom with a double bed and view into the garden. One set of stairs higher finds the second living/bedroom in a studio style with grandiose view. There is art and other things to discover located in and around the house.

The Wendland, officially the region of Lüchow-Dannenberg, is a sparsely populated area between the Elbe and the Lüneburger heath in the most easterly section of Lower Saxony. Meckelenburg and Brandenburg are located on the other side of the Elbe, and the Altmark is to the south. On the former edge of the region, industrialization and urbanization is not present. The lack of modernization has also an advantage as the landscape has remained fairly intact, with the possible exception of the nuclear power station in Gorleben. This area has an abundance of nature, not too many cars, pretty small towns and is ideal for walking and cycling. A real draw for artists and other creative types. Provoked by Gorleben, a new living cultural landscape has emerged. A combination of old and new structures offers plenty of room for relaxation, stimulation of the spirit, music, literature, arts, 12 museums, 1 cinema. We will be happy to recommend to you what you might do, where to shop and where to eat.

  • The bathroom is very large and slightly Mediterranean. The shower is open plan and is separated from the rest of the room with a curtain. There are also some paintings here. During the winter months one of the large oleander pots lives here. Towels, soap, hair dryer, toothbrush holder, dressing gown, hot water bottle and red light are supplied. You can look right into the garden from the toilet, if you so desire.

  • The living/bedrooms are located on the 1st floor with a double bed and comfortable lying area. Under the roof awning, a commode for small textiles, storage room for bed linen if you don't want it to get in the way and a large cupboard for larger clothes. Enough place for little bits and pieces all around the house. A children's mattress can be put in if needed. The full length window faces northeast over the park-like garden. At night you can hear the babbling of the brook and the rustling of the trees. Many of the floorboards creak, and this is how it is in older houses. We have knowingly preserved some authentic old bits of the apartment. There is a contrast between the original carpeting and a modern reclining chair. Main colours are white, yellow, green and some red. 2d living/bedroom: 1 floor higher, has the character of a gallery due to its brightness, a separated bed, fold out sofa, open cupboard, large table, basket seat, radio and magical view. You could even write a book here

Notes:

The lobby room on the first floor is the common living area with small library and television. There are many seating possibilities, a double sofa, a real leather seat from the thirties and a modern reclining chair with footstool. If required, we will set up an improvised children's sleeping area here. In the corridor you can find an umbrella, a pair of slippers and a dog bowl. Don't forget to bring your own slippers for indoors! The kitchen is equipped with an espresso kettle, wine cooler, apron, baking tins, kettle, thermos flask, radio and games for the children. There is also a well updated collection of information, which we believe will provide stimulation for our guests in body and mind. There is storage space for your bicycles in the porch of the apartment. You can also rent bikes here, they are even delivered. You can use our washing machine located next door.

For water rats

The more adventurous of you can cool down in the ice cold Muelbach during summer. The more civilized among you may prefer to use the nearby swimming pool in Clenze (2.7 miles away). It is unheated but has a long water slide. There are three more, partially heated summer swimming pools in the area. Also, there are 2 indoor pools for during the winter, apart from these there are many rivers and lakes. You can rent canoes. Wellness seekers. The Wendland is a hotbed of active and passive possibilities
