Val Formazza/Cascata del Toce:
One of the most beautiful waterfalls and the highest in Europe is 'Cascata del Toce'. It is 143m high and offers a beautiful Scenarium in the whole valley. Over the waterfall you have a high plateau with possibilities to walk over to Switzerland!
It is a wonderful landscape to see, to rest and to enjoy! In August the waterfall is open every day, the other months just for the weekend or some other days, but only for a few hours...In this case you better ask at the Proloco office(tourist office) in Domodossola by the railwaystation office.
Milano, Milan the fashion town:
Milano is a very interesting town full of culture and important sights. You can reach Milan in 1 1/2 hours by train from Domodossola railwaystation to Milano Centrale. Our railway prices are still quite good and you don't need to look for a parking place, which is normally very difficult to find. Do no forget to see the wonderful Paint from Leonardo da Vinci 'the last meal' in Santa Maria delle Grazie Church or the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Scala, the castle Sforzesco where the Sforza family lived, the Dom,'the Naviglio 'our river in Milano. It is a very characteristic corner of Milan (like la Seine in France), you can find there a lots of good restaurants, antique shops, galleries, romantic places and cafes'. The poor people used to live there once and wash their laundry with the hands at the fountains (Vicolo dei lavandai). Nowadays is a place where the most artists live.It is also possible to drive by boot along the Naviglio to other places outside Milan. Ask for the timetable there!
Ski:
We have very nice ski possibilities near us in Domobianca (Lusentino) or San Bernardo and Alpe Monscera/Gomba where you can practice Alpinski/Cross-country skiing. At about 1 hour drive from us you can find Macugnaga/Monte Rosa, Val Antrona, Val Formazza and Val Vigezzo (ca.40 Min. cardrive). In about 1 hour drive you are in Switzerland in places like Bellalp, Simplon, S.Domenico(Trasquera/Italy). A little further away (ca.2 hoursdrive) are Saasfee and Zermatt, the most famous places in Switzerland. It is worthwhile to see them, even if it is a little far away...Even in summer and springtime is wonderful over there!!
