Located on the South Cornwall Coast, Mevagissey is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful county. This unspoilt town still retains its traditional character; the streets are a delightful twisting hodge-podge of whitewashed buildings lining narrow passageways. It has a colourful history of boat building and smuggling but nowadays has a selection of top quality pubs, restaurants and shops and is close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. Mevagissey is an attractive old town and was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery. It still to this day boasts a working harbour, with a few dozen small fishing boats. Fishing trips can be taken from the harbour and there is a ferry to the nearby port of Fowey. If you prefer to stay on dry land there is excellent walking on the cliff tops above the town, where the views of town and sea are superb!
