The area of Alghero, on the northwest coast of Sardinia, is one of the most attractive coast lines of the Island. You have a wide choice of possibilities for day trips in the immediate vicinity of Alghero: Neptune's Grotto on the peninsula of Capo Caccia, Stintino, Bosa, Argentiera, Anghelu Ruju and Nuraghe di Palmavera. Alghero still retains its distinctive Catalan character. The town, with an old town centre on the sea front, consisting of a labyrinthine network of narrow lanes, most of which are car free, offers numerous, bars, cafes and restaurants which preserve Alghero's reputation for excellent seafood. Also worthy a visit are: Bosa to the south and Stintino (with superb beaches and calm turquoise waters) to the north.
