The abbey is bordered by the Caledonian Canal on one side, the river Tarff on the other and Loch Ness at the front. Fort Augustus is a 30 min. drive from Inverness, the Highland capital, with its excellent access network by bus, rail or air. Fort William is a 30 min. drive in the other direction. There are regular bus connections to Inverness and Fort William from Fort Augustus. Fort Augustus is approx. 3 hours from Edinburgh and Glasgow - during the drive you will have the chance to savour some of the most spectacular scenery Scotland has to offer, not to mention the chance to stop in at various whisky distilleries on the way! The abbey is set in an area of breathtaking beauty and tranquillity - an absolutely unique experience!
