Only a couple of minutes on foot to the harbour and the sea, and you’ll be fascinated by the power of the sea. Have you ever seen a harbour at ebb tide? Fecamp’s is very special. Just to see the sea is what my German friends crave. It’s really great to watch the waves. A trip on a big sailing boat, fishing on the jetty or just strolling on the beach promenade is unforgettable. The neighbouring town Etretat with its famous golf course are worth a visit. Fécamp is an old harbour town from which huge trawlers used to make their way to Newfoundland. Cod and herring were prepared here, making the town of Fécamp very rich (note the houses of Silex stone). At the beginning of the century the well-known Benedictine liquor distillery was established, also well worth a visit.
