For lazy beach holidays or for a solitary tour around remote villages: you will be well served here. The petite côte is were the safe swimming beaches attract large number of tourists, but in La Somone you still have white strands that swing in local rhythm, it is a pretty hide-out close to Dakar. It is great for swimming, walking, and horse riding (guided tours on horseback along the beach and in the surroundings of the village). The roof terrace of the apartment is the perfect place to watch the sun set or see groups of pelicans or flamingos land on the water. Nearby: restaurants, night clubs, pharmacy in the centre of Somone. A wildlife reserve in Bandia (15 km) includes species indigenous to Senegal (rhinos, giraffes, buffalos) and other animals more at home in East Africa.
