Crafted by artist with geology in mind: lime wash, mineral colours in pastel tones, no carpets, plenty of light, tile and mosaic patterns in all rooms, Jacuzzi on ground floor, 2nd bathroom on 1st floor and extra guest WC. Rose Room, the bridal suite with loggia and stork's nest is very comfortable (8 persons). There's a large extra sofa bed in the living room. Stone-base tiled stove to warm you in the depths of winter. Downstairs, there's a large kitchen (with large fridge and dishwasher) and a long table for 10 persons, while upstairs there's a mini-kitchen off the landing for making tea or coffee. There's a 10 m². south-facing balcony with seating, table and sunshade. And there's a large terrace on the lawn with view of the forest, barbecue and large sunshade. This house is situated at the edge of the town beside forest house.

At the southern, most point of mountain country, where it meets Westerwald, Sauerland and Siegerland, lies the little village of Bettorf, part of Friesenhagen district, between Morsbach and Freudenberg on the A45. In this idyllic forest on the mountainside you can experience forestry first-hand, just like in Falkenau Forestry house; you will be next door to a real forestry house, surrounded by peace and quietness. Nordic Walking (free sticks), walking, cycling in Reichshof cycle park, hang-gliding, Eckenhagen swimming baths, monkey and birds zoo, historic old town of Freudenberg with popular illuminated stage, Biggetal bar with dripstone caves, Castle Homburg museum, Wildenburgerland forest park, Crottorf Castle, Friesenhagen gold panning, go-cart track in Hahn, 2 golf courses, 'Rubensstadt' Siegen, all nearby. Max. 1 hour drive to Cologne, Bonn, the Siebengebirge ('Seven Mountains'), and the Ahr, Mosel and Koblenz.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The weekly rate of € 289 for 7 nights is the basic rate for 2 persons NOT including bed linen and towels. Please bring these with you. If ordered on site these cost € 6.50 per person. Each additional adult (over 14) is charged € 15 per night. Children under 14 are charged € 10. Under 7 nights: adults € 20, children € 15 per night. Example: long weekend for groups of up to 20 persons: arrival Friday after 2 pm, departure Sunday before 5 pm. € 40 per adult and € 30 for children up to 14 for the weekend. 1 bottle champagne, mineral water and orange juice and wood for the tiled stove. Also nature trips in local woods led by forestry staff or historical trips to Schloss Crottorf, Wildenburg, Rote Kapelle and historic churches in Golddorf Friesenhagen (prices on request).
  • Cancellations: no charge up to 6 weeks before arrival date, 50% up to 3 weeks before, then 75%. However we do not charge if the holiday house is relet for the period in question.

Notes: We welcome clubs, friendship groups etc. In the surrounding 8 km radius there are lots of country guest houses, restaurants and pubs for delicious, reasonably priced food and drink. For example we have a ladies club from Cologne (6 - 8 persons) who spend a weekend here twice a year in May and November. They prepare meals in advance in the large kitchen, go walking and talking to their heart's content. Smokers are allowed to smoke on the (covered) balcony. Please don't smoke in the rooms. The apartment is fully and tastefully furnished.

Familie Audehn, Oberhausen: Schätzen die Ruhe, die saubere familiäre Atmosphäre, die persönliche Betreuung durch die Försterfamilie. * Familie Laufkötter, Mönchengladbach: die mit 9 Personen in diesem Jahr 3 Wochen Urlaub machte: Lieben das große Ferienhaus, die gute Luft, die Ruhe, die guten Betten, den großen Balkon, die Terrasse, die Ruhebank unter der Hainbuche, das große Bad mit den Mosaikarbeiten usw. * Familie Verleun, Den Haag: (2 Erwachsene, 4 Kinder und für 8 Tage noch die Eltern zusätzlich) machen seit Jahren 2 x im Jahr Urlaub beim Förster. Sie lieben die Traumlage, den Platz um das Ferienhaus - über 2000 qm - mit vielfältigen Spielmöglichkeiten für Ihre Kinder, die Katze Minka, den Hund Bea, die Schafe, die Forellen, die sie füttern dürfen. * Familie Gajewski, Essen: Freunde).
