Lake of Como:
Lake Come, 200 m above sea level, can boast of a very mild climate in winter and a nice refreshing south wind (where named “ Breva “)in summer at midday and in the evening. This is a rare meteorological phenomenon of Lake Come and only a few more other lakes. Especially in the north of the lake this wind reaches a speed of 20/30 knots, ideally virtually famous for sailors and windsurfers. (a hot tip is Domaso, there one is specialized ) . The forests in the back country invite for long walks in the mountains up to an altitude of 1800 m.
Surroundings-Trips:
The natural landscape of the area offers lakes for water sports/swimming and majestic mountains for trekking/mountain biking and the views are spectacular! A day on the beach or a day in the city (Como or even Milan), visit part of the picturesque and romantic areas of Santa Maria Rezzonico, Menaggio, Porlezza (Lake Lugano 12 km), Varenna (15 min by boat), Bellaggio (8 min by boat), Lenno, Laglio (where George Clooney lives). On the west coast of the lake, where Tremezzo is situated, is very well known for its villas which you can visit. The most important one is in Tremezzo, it is called Villa Carlotto, built in 1750, now converted to a museum with fantastic botanic gardens. You have a different trip every day; next to relax in and around the apartment. Shopping is very good in Como or even in Menaggio, of course Como is a bigger city and offers more shops, but Menaggio is very pretty and has a great atmosphere as well. We can help you rent a bike and much more.
Low Season:
In the pre and after-season and even in the winter the area is very beautiful, there is less tourism, but, to undertake still very much, the weather is very even and mild mostly. This area is very well to relax .
Also in winter time we have nice sunny days....enjoy this.
Ski:
This region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its hills and local mountains. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out. There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema which is not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border. There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs. Moving back into Italy the nearest serious ski resorts St Moritz or Madesimo which are again over an hour and 1.5 hours drive, once you get the Lakeside.
Golf:
The area is also very beautiful in low/pre-season, the weather is constant and everything is open as in summer, great for trips and relaxing in the sun with spectacular views. This year there have been 4 or 5 days of rain from September through January and 90% of sun. You do not have to go far to get some sun in winter and to have a relaxing time, eat great food and meet very friendly people.
