Photos and Description of this Vogtland / Western Saxony holiday house tiled stove and four poster beds

Lovingly restored, former craftsman's workshop in a small village with approx. 1000 inhabitants in the natural park area of Erzgebirge/Vogtland with countless cycle and hiking paths in wooded hilly area. You will be staying in a detached holiday home which is adjacent to our house, in a former joiners workshop with exhibition room, a miniature village and a small gallery in the former barn area. In front of the holiday home you will find a larger garden and behind the house you will find more parking spaces. On the ground floor of the holiday home there is a sitting room with a kitchen and television as well as a toilet with shower and separate toilet. On the first floor you will find two bedrooms with double beds and one bedroom with two single beds. All rooms have central heating. In the winter months the wood stove is the central point for comfortable times. The Vogtland offers many interesting day trip destinations all the year round for a varied and interesting family holiday.

Bergen is the gateway to the upper Vogtland and Erzgebirge. This is one of the most beautiful mountainous regions in Germany. There is a good tram network, bicycle and walking trails connect idyllic villages and towns between valleys and forests. There are many day trip locations such as sporting centers, theme parks, theaters, museums, mines, water parks, the spa areas of Bad Elster and Bad Brambach, the musical corner near Markneukirchen, the ski jump in Klingerthal, the border crossing to Baederdreieck in the Czech Republic and Prague. Dresden and Leipzig are approx. 2 hours away by car. The whole region is very well connected by public transport, you can reach most destinations comfortably and cheaply by train or by bus. The Vogtland was named as the most interesting hiking area in Germany in a survey in 2005. There is a multitude of hiking trails, and cross country skiing trails in winter that run through the Vogtland.

  • The entire plumbing of the house was renovated in 2005. There are three toilets with wash hand basins available. There is a shower in one of the toilets. Naturally there is always hot water available.

Notes: All rooms in the house are rustically furnished. Our guests really love our garden area in front of the holiday home. One table and chairs invite you to enjoy your breakfast in the open air or observe the moon and the stars at night.

Historical joiner's workshop: The former joiner's workshop contains machines from a bygone age. These machines and the joiners tools make up the framework for small events. Now and then readings or presentations take place here. In the past year a couple of computer courses took place here. In the coming Christmas period we will hold some Christmas parties for kids here. And if you wish we will think up something for you.

Gallery: Ten years ago straw and hay were still being stored here, there was a hay cart on the barn floor and a threshing machine stood in the corner. With much effort and vision we created a relaxation room out of this former barn with a fireplace and many small extras. At the moment there are some oil paintings hanging there, on loan from Professor Johannes Helm.

Miniature village: In the summer months we exhibit the carefully restored life’s work of the rural folk artist Karl Singer. A village, carved from wooded with small figures created a picture of what life was like in the village in 1900. Karl Singer worked many years on this village. Nowadays visitors from the region and tourists alike can see this exhibition and be entertained and tell stories. Every year many hundred guests observe the model village, traditional societies, hiking groups and kindergarten groups.

Ski: The Vogtland has become a well loved ski area in the past few years. It is not the ski slopes that tempt winter sport enthusiasts to our area however, rather the winding network of cross country ski trails in the area and the tradition of ski jumps. Since 2006, one of the most modern ski jumps in the world is located in Klingenthal, a new highlight in the Vogtland area.

Golf: The nearest golf course is 3.6 miles away near the Poehl dam. There is another 18 miles away near the town of Hof.

Silvester 2008/2009 im schönen Vogtland

Unser Silvesterurlaub in der Neuen Scheune wird uns noch lange in guter Erinnerung bleiben.
Die Zimmer sind sehr gemütlich und rustikal eingerichtet
(Bauernbetten, Kachelofen), aber auch an Komfort mangelt es nicht (Geschirrspüler, Bad)
Die Gastgeber sind ganz liebe, interessierte und für vieles offene Leute. Sie ermöglichten uns einen ganz neuen Blick in die Geschichte ( und die Geschichten ) des Vogtlandes. Mit viel Herzblut sind sie an der Bewahrung und am Erleben der Tradition ihrer Heimat dabei.
Vielen Dank dafür und viel Kraft für gutes Gelingen weiterhin.

Das Fereinhaus ist ein völlig ausreichend ausgestattetes , sehr romantisches Domizil. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und immer auf das Wohl der Gäste aus. Alles ist sehr sauber und mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet.

Das Ferienhaus war noch besser, als wir es erwartet hatten - faktisch mit Familienanschluß. Wir fühlten uns immer gut umsorgt. Für Familien mit Kindern und Enkelkindern sehr gut geeignet, wegen der herrlichen Schauanlage und des großen Gartens.
