Santanyi is a small city in the Majorcan mainland with about 7,600 residents, which celebrated its 700th birthday in 2000. The Port Murada, the powerful fortress, reminds of the moving past of Santanyi. As a traffic junction, the city serves as the centre of the oil and almond tree culture for the southern part of the island. Only a few kilometres away is Cala Santanyi. Here you will find a bay with a fine sand beach with turquoise colour water - ideal for diving. The diving school is located near the beach. The bay is surrounded by steep cliffs and offers a romantic atmosphere. Here you will find only a few hotels, but these have a fantastic view. In front of the coast are the cliffs of Es Pontas, which the surf from the Mediterranean Sea has turned into a natural arch made of limestone. A few minutes away by car you will find the double bay of Cala Mondrago with two beautiful beaches.
