Villa Claudia is located above Scario amidst a lot of green and has a marvellous view upon the sea and the Gulf of Policastro. You reach the nearest beach within only about 1.3 km. The 3 spacious terraces of your Scario holiday home invite you to live outdoors (roof terrace with sea view, roofed terrace, and lateral terrace with roofed grill). Across the terrace you access the large living/ dining room with the typically local ceiling with wooden beams. A cosy couch corner (with TV) and a pretty fireside provide for relaxing hours. A little detached from the living area, you will find the dining area with its large table of massive wood. Also located on the ground floor is the separate kitchen with built-in kitchen made of solid wood, dishwasher and electrical coffeemaker (please bring your own filters). On the ground floor there is also a separate WC with bidet. The two bedrooms on the upper floor offer a double bed. The bathroom is equipped with bath tub/ bidet/ WC.

Stores, café bars and restaurants are within about 1.3 km in the town centre of Scario. The dreamy coastal village of Scario is the jewel at the southern-most end of the Cilento. The ancient Greeks were already drawn to Scario by its unique site and the mild climate (Greek: Skariòs). The authentic fishing village touches the maritime wildlife park Infreschi – which reaches up to Marina di Camerota – on the one side. Boats (information: “Bar Toni”) take you to numerous picturesque bays of the maritime wildlife park within a few minutes. On the other side, Scario lies on the edge of the Gulf of Policastro. You will enjoy the amazing panoramic view into the wide bay of the Gulf and towards the mountains of Basilicata and Calabria, which seem to rise directly from the sea. On days of clear visibility you are even able to see the famous statue of Christ in Maratea. The beautiful church with its separate bell tower – a campanile – is to be found on the main piazza of Scario.

A bit lacking

We loved the southern Cilento area and had a great time visiting nearby towns and beaches (especially Marina di Camerota), but this house leaves a bit to be desired. The grounds are in fairly poor condition, the dishwasher did not work, and the water shut off a number of times. The refrigerator barely worked (in fairness, not an uncommon problem in Italy in the summer). Best feature was the rooftop deck and front patio. A bit more care by the owner could turn this into a first-rate experience. The rental agency was fine to deal with.

Wir waren zwei Wochen in der Villa Claudia zu Gast und absolut angetan vom Ambiente und der fantastischen Lage! Traumhaft ist nicht nur der Blick auf den Golf von Policastro, sondern auch der große mediterrane Garten. Unsere Kinder waren vom Strand begeistert.
Der Ort Scario ist ein echter Tipp - wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Mäßig gepflegtes Traumhaus

Die gesamte Abwicklung in Deutschland lief einwandfrei, die Anbieter-Agentur reagierte superschnell auf unsere kurzfristige Anfrage, war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Der Empfang vor Ort war leider nicht im selben Maße freundlich. Außerdem wurde während unseres Aufenthalts wurde ein Besichtigungstermin zum Verkauf des Hauses angesetzt, was wir als eine Beschränkung unserer Freienruhe empfanden.

Nun zum Haus: Traumhafter Ausblick von der Terrasse im oberen Stockwerk der kleinen Villa. Ein Genuss zu jeder Tageszeit. Meerblick! Leider war das Animationsprogramm eines nahe gelegenen Megahotels bis spät abends zu hören.
Der Garten sehr ungepflegt. Der Kühlschrank funktionierte, aber es gab leider kein Gefrierfach. Eine Waschmaschine war vorhanden, allerdings nicht zur Benutzung durch Feriengäste vorgesehen. Der Abfluss im unteren WC war verstopft. Der Cilento selbst ist landschaftlich wunderschön, und der von der Agentur mitgeschickte Reiseführer schlägt zauberhafte, verlauf-sicher beschriebene Wanderungen vor. Hierfür nochmals vielen Dank.
