Brief description: This wonderful barn style cabin was built by one of the area's premiere builders - who specializes in creating very rustic, historic looking cabins - with very fine finish details and amenities. There is a sense of Old West history here, yet you will enjoy fine linens, tasteful artwork and completely modern and up to date amenities. The East Boulder Barn and neighboring East Boulder Cabin are on 60 acres along a private stretch of the East Boulder River, just south of McLeod. This road does have regular truck traffic on it during weekdays as it leads to an operating mine at the end of East Boulder Road. The roadside edge of the property is protected from the traffic by a high, solid wood fence.
Bedroom and baths: There are two spacious bedrooms in the home, and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a beautiful king size bed and also serves as some of the living area of the home. It's a very large room, and at one end of the room is a dining area and a bit of extra seating. A door at this end of the room leads out to a great screened in porch with more dining space. The second bedroom in the home has two twin beds.
Kitchen: This galley style kitchen is small, but has absolutely everything you will need to for all your meals! All cookware, serving ware, utensils and a spice cabinet are there for guests.
Dining area: The dining area is at one end of the master bedroom. You can also head out on the back deck and dine at the picnic table overlooking the river.
Living room: The living room in the "barn" is a great long room, with plenty of cozy seating at one end, and a fun ping pong table set up at the other end. The furnishings and artwork are a bit eclectic and just add to the overall charm of this funky abode.
Setting, acreage, views: From the back door, head out and explore the 60 acres and half mile of river frontage on the East Boulder River. Drive a little bit farther up the main road and you will find trailheads for hiking or biking up into the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness area.
Services available: The rental rate includes a weekly cleaning. Additional housekeeping can be arranged with a bit of prior notice.
Activities nearby: Besides fishing on the East and West Boulder River, hiking and mountain biking on nearby trails, there is horseback riding, golf, skiing, tours of Yellowstone National Park, and everything that the towns of Big Timber, Livingston and Bozeman have to offer.
Closest town and airport: It's about 20 miles to Big Timber, just under an hour to Livingston, and 1.5 hours to Bozeman's Gallatin Field airport. Yellowstone National Park is just under two hours away.
Other details: No smoking is allowed in the home. No pets are allowed on the property or in the home without written permission from Mountain Home. The home has a washer and dryer for guests. All Mountain Home properties have fully equipped kitchens, and include good quality kitchen, bath and bed linens, and staples like paper goods, laundry, dish and hand soaps.
