At present An Tigin is the last house at a tiny cul de sack. Next stop America. From the second last house, Seana Hig, it is only about one kilometer. We call it the honeymoon cottage. There is enough room for two people and with the new extra bedroom across the yard even for three. It has got a lovely livingroom with dining area, a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom with a double bed. And across the yard there is another bedroom with an ensuite shower room cum WC.

An Tigin looks across Dingle Bay to Dingle and the Blaskets. The little thached cottage was built in 2000. At presend it is the last house at the tiny cul the sack its at. At the back of it there are mountain trails to be discovered. For walkers, water sports fans or people that love nature in general this is the ideal house.

Additional information about rental rates

  • After the booking has been confirmed we ask for a deposit of a third of the total rent. The remainder is due six weeks prior to you stay. During off-season, depending on the tenant booking the house before or after you, the house can be occupied and left any day of the week. In that case the rent that exceeds one week is calculated at a daily basis. For short-term bookings there is a minimum price of 300 euros. Please enquire. During peak-season the minimum booking period is one week.
  • The house can be occupied at about 4pm on the day of your arrival and should be vacated the day you leave at about 10am.
  • Electricity is metred and charged at 25 cents per unit. Half that at night.

The area: Kells is a little harbour hamlet between Glenbeigh and Cahirciveen. It has been getting the 'Blue Flag' for its beach many years in succession. To take one of the boat that go out from Cahirciveen or Portmagee to the Skellig Rocks is an adventure you will not forget in a long time. During that trip you will see the ancient monastry, lots of puffins, seals and sometimes dolphins and porpoises.

Golf: At least eight uniquely situated Golf courses are to be found within in an hour by car.

Other Activities: On the isle of Valentia there is scuba diving school. It takes you about 35 Minutes to get there.

Wenn auch verspätet möchte ich mich herzlich für die tolle Woche im Häuschen "An Tigin" bedanken! Wir konnten es kaum glauben, als wir "unser" Haus sahen! Diese einsame, wunderschöne, einmalig himmlische Lage... Atemberaubend! Wir wollten gar nicht wieder weg. Immer wenn es uns im Alltag zu bunt wird, denken wir an die Zeit in Irland. Eine Woche war viel zu kurz!

An Tigin - NOMEN EST OMEN

Wir hatten nur das Haupthaus gemietet, das über ein Schlafzimmer mit Doppelbett, ein Bad mit Badewanne und separater Dusche, einen Wohn- Essbereich mit offenem Kamin, kleiner Stereoanlage, DVD-Player mit Röhrenfernseher und einer gut ausgestatteten Küche (leider kein Backofen) verfügte. Das Cottage wirkte großzügig und war aufgrund der vielen Fenster und Türen wunderbar hell, es war sehr gut möbliert, z.T. leicht kitschig (aber insgesamt stimmig) für "Frischvermählte" dekoriert, was wir nach 35-jähriger Partnerschaft ganz lustig fanden.
Angenehm war, dass eine "Grundausstattung" vorhanden war (Küchenrolle, Geschirrtücher, Toilettenpapier etc), einschließlich eines Vorrats an Torfbriketts, Anfeuerholz und Anzündern, Wanderkarten und Wanderführer. Es gab so gut wie nichts auszusetzen. Manchmal wurden die Teller schnell knapp (nur zwei Frühstücksteller); andererseits gab es zwei schöne Champagnerkelche (also unbedingt einen kleinen Vorrat mitbringen). Die Nebenkosten können, wegen der elektrischen Fußbodenheizung, auch im Sommer negativ überraschen. Die Übergabe des Cottages erfolgte durch eine Verwandte der Hausbesitzer angenehm professionell.
Fazit: Ferienhaus in traumhaft schöner Lage mit wunderbarem Blick auf die Dingle-Bay, das in der Hauptsaison seinen Preis hat, aber wirklich sauber und gut gepflegt ist. Wer Ruhe, Einsamkeit und die Natur Irlands liebt, ist hier genau richtig.

Traumhaft gelegenes kleines Ferienhaus

Uns zieht es immer wieder hierhin. Bisher haben wir keinen schöneren Ort in Irland finden können. Das Haus liegt absolut ruhig an einem Berghang mit Blick auf das Meer und in der Ferne die Dingel Halbinsel. Man ist umgeben von Schafen, Kühen und Miniponies. Der Weg endet am Haus, sodass sich höchstens mal ein Wanderer hierher verirrt. Ein absolutes Naturparadies! Der Blick vom Haus aus ist einfach atemberaubend! Man sollte dieses Haus unbedingt buchen, wenn man auf der Suche nach richtiger Erholung ist und die Ruhe sucht. Der nächste Ort Glenbeigh mit einer Tankstelle/Supermarkt und ein paar einfachen Restaurants ist mit dem Auto in ca. 20-25 min. zu erreichen. (Mietwagen unerlässlich) Das Haus selbst ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, zwei Ohrensessel stehen vor einem offenen Kamin. Die Vermieterin scheint eine Vorliebe für Engelfiguren zu haben, sie findet man dezent im ganzen Haus. Klingt zwar etwas kitschig und ist normalerweise nicht mein Fall, aber hierher passt es wunderbar. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!!

Wo sich Ponys, Kühe und Schafe gute Nacht sagen

Nur 6 km vom Ring of Kerry entfernt ein kleines Paradies. Am Ende eines kleinen landwirtschaftlichen Weges das letzte Haus des Weilers mit Blick auf das Meer - einfach wunderbar. Das kleine Häuschchen - ideal für zwei - übertraf meine Erwartungen. Manchmal haben wir schon morgens den Kamin angemacht. In der Küche fanden wir alles, was man zum Kochen braucht. Im Wohnzimmer Bücher viele Informationen über die Gegend und Irland, daneben sogar ein paar wirklich gute DVDs für die Regenzeit. Die Vermieterin, die uns bei An- und Abreise traf, war sehr herzlich. Ganz und gar ein Haus, in das wir jederzeit wiederkommen würden.
Für die Anfahrt ist es von Vorteil ein Auto - das braucht man unbedingt - der kleinsten Kategorie zu wählen. Sonst hat man nicht nur dort richtig Stress beim Fahren.
Wir sind während einer Woche viel gewandert und haben vor allem die Ruhe genossen. Wer gerne in der Natur ist und sich von wunderbaren Landschaften begeistern lassen kann, der ist hier richtig.
