Pros:
Beautiful location, spectacular views of the ocean and several islands (including Stromboli) on a clear day. A place where you can relax with children of all ages or just send them out on their own. There are two big, beautiful pools and close proximity to different beaches - and there are some beautiful sandy beaches 15 minutes away - and small cities for sightseeing and shopping. There is also a small playground for kids and all sorts of toys lying around. There are beautiful plants and flowers everywhere, vegetable patches overflowing with tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, eggplants etc which guests can freely take. Very friendly staff who try to very helpful and accommodating. In short Ninea has or is close to everything most people desire on their vacation with or without children.
Cons: The only negatives are the (hidden) costs. We arrived very late due to traffic and we called several times to let them know. They were very accommodating offered to have dinner ready for us which we truly appreciated! However, during dinner, they casually asked if we were planning to have breakfast in the morning so they could be prepared for the number of guests. We were a bit confused since we didn't think breakfast was included but we didn't want to ask. So we said yes. After breakfast in the morning, we finally decided to ask. It turned out the breakfast was extra - which is fine but it would have been nice to mention it so we could properly decide. When I mentioned this, I was told that there was an information booklet in each apartment that explained everything. But we looked everywhere in our apartment and there was no such information. So be aware, if you are traveling there for the first time, that everything (except the vegetables - which is really a fantastic extra!) costs money even if it's offered casually. Children from 12 are also considered adults when being charged for food....and there's usually a big difference.
On a personal note, (I lived in Italy for 5 years and have travelled in souther Italy very often so perhaps I'm a bit more picky than the average tourist) I find the food at Ninea pretty average except for the pasta and antipasti which were quite exceptional. But the pizza and meat dishes (which were included in an all-inclusive dinner) were not very memorable. We also found the all-inclusive dinners not very good value for the price but very convenient for a night in.
Besides that, we highly recommend Ninea & will visit again.
