Beautifully restored building within walking distance of Leipzig’s city center, with stores, world famous Gewandhaus concert hall, opera, theatre, market square, old town hall, Thomas Church (where Bach worked and composed for 25 yers), Nicholai Church (from where peace demonstrations helped bring down the “Wall”), Auerbach’s Keller, immortalized in Goethe’s Faust, and new art museum. Convenient streetcar connections to many world-famous attractions: Schiller house, the Volkerschlacht Denkmal, commemorating Napoleon’s defeat by the people’s army, the Auenwald with miles of walking and bike trails, the railway station shopping mall, the Leipzig trade fair grounds, the sports stadium. The apartment has all modern conveniences: Washer/dryer, stereo CD player and receiver, satellite television, range, oven, refrigerator. Possibility for German or English language instruction.

Within 5 minutes of city center shopping and railway station promenade mall. Leipzig is a city of music and culture. From this rental it's an easy walk to Thomas Church (think Bach) with free performances of the Thomaner Boy's Choir, Church of the Nikolai (the origin of the freedom demonstrations which helped bring down the 'wall' in 1989), the Art museum, the world class Opera, and Gewandhaus concert hall, the new Art Museum. The rental is close to a major streetcar stop with easy connections to the Battle of the Nations monument, the Schiller house, the Messe (trade fair) grounds, the airport and the sports arena. Bicycle paths nearby lead to a park with miles of biking or walking trails, and lakes and rivers for water activities. An indoor swimming pool is within a five minute walk. Excellent restaurants are plentiful. Some only a short walk from the rental.

Notes: The apartment is on the third floor (American). There is a small freight elevator for suitcases etc. The beauty of this rental is the restoration of the original decor. The floors have all been sanded and finished with natural ecologically friendly oil. Where possible, original timbers have been uncovered and oiled. The ambiance is a tasteful melding of old and new.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Leipzig in this vacation rental. We stayed for almost a month, but it felt like home from the moment we moved in. The kitchen was very nicely equipped and there were plenty of linens provided. The flat had nice space and was in a great location - close to everything, but not so close that it was loud. Thank you for a wonderful trip!
