In midst the historical centre of Gagliano you open the entrance door from the street. A stairwell brings you up to the first floor, where you can find the little gently renovated flat of 40 sqm with a terrace, tall rooms with cross-ceilings and historical mosaic floors. From the kitchen you reach the flat roof, where you have an incredible panoramic view: overlooking the houses and the countryside with olive trees to the sea... When the weather is clear you catch even sight of the albanian and greek shoreline whereas you are shielded in the back by the buildings of the historical centre leading up to the church. Directly from the house you reach a natural footpath which guides you down to the seaside, passing through a wonderful ravine with olive- and fig trees, capers and Trullis – the little, round stone houses, which are typically for this region - a 20 minutes walk to the protected gulf with a bridge above named Ponte Ciolo.

Gagliano del Capo is situated 60 km in the south of Lecce at the adriatic sea, opposite the greek island Corfu, a magic point. Here in this very south part of Apulia there is sea wherever you look... Finibus Terrae, the end of the world. 5 km further down, at Santa Maria di Leuca, Adriatic and Ionion sea flow together. Sometimes this meeting creates a silver lining on the horizon. From Otranto to the Cap enchanting coasts with idyllic places, harbours, accessible grottoes and rocky bays for swimming and fishing off the roads. Crystal clear water. At the Ionian seaside the wide sand beaches of Pescoluse, Salve and Ugento, distant only 10-20 km. Northwards the ancient port Gallipoli and the wonderful nature reserve Porto Selvaggio with a huge belt of pines approaching the sea.

Gagliano del Capo: Casa Franca is next to the ancient church and piazza, a pleasant longitudinal square flanked by statues, coffee bars and shops for everyday-life. On saturdays there is also a characteristic market in Gagliano and the quiet place is turning to be very bustle and busy.

Barocco Leccese: Like all the other historical places of the Salento (province of Lecce) also Gagliano is built of warm tuff, a material which creates a special flair. Fascinating is also the barocco leccese, a local baroque stile which culminates in the facades of the churches of Lecce.

Salento: The Salento is the most southern province of Apulia, an area between two seas, the Ionion and Adriatic with beautiful coasts, still existing greekophone enclaves, adorable and gentle people, interesting historical places, impressing estates (masserie). All over the year sensuosly religious festivities and a fascinating music- and dance-tradition, the Taranta Salentina (Pizzica) with concert highlights in midsummer. A simple but exquisite cuisine. A large variety of pasta dishes, fresh and local growing vegetables, fish and frutta di mare. Excellent wines and enchanting, baroque cities like Lecce, Nardò, Galatina, Gallipoli etc. Still an authentic piece of Italy, newly-discovered in the last years by the Italians itself. Das ist ein wirklich feines und sorgfältig adaptiertes
Haus, sehr sauber und gut betreut.
Wir haben es sehr gemocht und können es unbedingt weiterempfehlen!
Die Lage im Altstadtzentrum von Gagliano ist genial, von der Terrasse hat man einen schönen Blick über die Landschaft und ans Meer.
Gagliano ist noch sehr ursprünglich und intim, ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Kultur- und Badeausflüge in beide Küstenabschnitte Südapuliens.

klaras whg in gagliano war für uns die perfekte ausgangsbasis für einen schönen urlaub zu zweit in der nachsaison mit ruhe und entspannung.die lage ist super,selbstversorgung funktioniert bestens auf grund der nahen geschäfte und auch auf grund der guten küchenausstattung.die mischung aus IKEA und antiquariat macht die wohnung sehr sympathisch,der schöne mosaikboden und die dachterasse mit der netten sitzecke sind weitere erwähnenswerte details.das einzige,was wir in der wohnung vermisst haben,war ein doppelbett,da die 2 einzelbetten ständig auseinander gerutscht sind.nichts desto trotz haben wir so gut geschlafen sie seit langem nicht!!!
Owner's Response: Freut mich sehr! Nehme Eure Anregung gerne auf und werde mir wegen der zwei Einzelbetten im Schlafzimmer einen Mechanismus überlegen, um sie je nach Bedarf zusammenschnallen oder wieder losschnallen zu können. Eine ausziehbare Couch (1,40x1,90m) gibt es zwar, sie steht halt allerdings im Wohnzimmer und ist eher dafür gedacht, evtl. auch einem dritten oder maximal vierten Gast (zwei Kindern) Platz bieten zu können. Vielen lieben Dank Euch für den nützlichen Hinweis!

bezaubernde Wohnung zum Wohlfühlen

in dieser bezaubernden Altbau-Wohnung sind Gäste gut aufgehoben, die Lust auf italienisches Kleinstadtleben haben. Zum Meer ist es nicht weit (Steilküste zu Fuß zu erreichen, Sandstrand mit dem Auto), wunderschöne Küsten.
Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet, gut ausgestattet und mit vielen netten Kleinigkeiten dekoriert. Auf dem kleinen Balkon läßt sich zu zweit gut essen.

Wunderbare Wohnung

Wir fanden eine wunderbare Wohnung mit Balkon und Dachterrasse vor, ideal für Entdeckungsfreudige und Reisehungrige.Unsere italienische Selbstversorgung in der gut ausgestatteten Küche funktionierte bestens, wir liebten die geschmackvoll reduzierte Einrichtung.
Für Suchfaule gibts einige Tipps und Hinweise bei der Reservierung mitgeliefert.
Anreise und Begleitung mit Auto ist empfehlenswert.
Ideal auch ausserhalb der Hauptsaison, wo man einen beschaulichen Ort vorfindet, typisch italienisch, alle Menschen sind freundlich, hilfsbereit und tief katholisch.....
Owner's Response: Es freut uns wirklich sehr, daß unsere Gäste das Haus schätzen und sich wohlfühlen. Der Ort ist sehr beschaulich, ja, vielleicht für einige gewöhnungsbedürftig... aber wenn man einmal eintaucht in diese wohltuende Einfachheit, Liebenswürdigkeit und Spontaneität, wird man bereichert, denke ich...
