Events:
Even if it is peaceful in Lauenstein, there are still a few attractive events throughout the year. During the winter the Altenberg races invite you with experienced pilots - a special type of experience. The Geisinger Ski and Ice carnival is famous for the region. A highlight are the Lauenstein culture days that occur during the second weekend of September. In addition to this are exhibitions in the Easter Erz Mountain museum and events in the castle and church that invite a wide audience to Lauenstein. The annual concert from the 'Sandstone and Music' festival in the church is a highlight. The wild park attracts with Easter or Pentecost festivals, summer Indian camps, herbal or apple markets. In the beginning of October, when it starts to get cooler, there are ideal conditions for training sled dogs in Oberbärenburg. Experience dozens of huskies in a special atmosphere.
Erz mountains in bright lights:
Spring, summer, fall and winter - all seasons are beautiful. But the most beautiful time of the year begins on the Saturday before the 1st advent when the lights go on - not only in the hearts of the people, but rather in all houses, parlours and windows. This tradition is a century old and tightly connected with mining, you can find out details on site! We invite you to spend a few days of Advent in the 'Erz mountains in bright lights'. Ski:
In Altenberg, Geising and Rehefeld (3 - 5 km) you will find ski slopes with ski lifts - there is also ski rental and ski schools in the first two cities. An ice rink can be found in Geising where there are also curling competitions. Nearby you will find the Altenberg racing sleds and bobsled track (World Championship in February 2008), here you can have a special rush: guest bobsledding with experienced pilots. Registration required.
Golf:
In Possendorf, between Dippoldiswalde and Dresden you will find the Golf Club Dresden Elbflorenz. All challenges of modern golf in a scenically charming ambiance. The successful symbiosis with the new club house, its open modern architecture and the rustic event barn will excite you. Founded in 1993, number of holes 18, season March to November.
