Kalamos is by Milina , Chorton and Lefokastro, one of the most treasured fishing villages on Pagasitokos (Gulf of Volos). This is due partly to the south-west location with the most impressive sunsets, on the other side due to the always quiet sea with all of its water sport options. Furthermore, Kalamos is only a few minutes drive from Argalasti, the center of south-Pilion. Here you will find all shopping facilities including the weekly market. Kalamos itself has multiple beautiful beaches and a few taverns so that you hardly have to use a car to move around. The water is clear due to the pebble beaches and the first meters are very flat, so great for small children. Kalamos is popular with families and does not have many tourist. If you would like more action, then you can drive to the neighbouring city Milina where you will find a whole row of taverns, restaurants and bars. About Pilion
Northeast of the beautiful city of Volos, the Pilion Mountains rise and go towards the south as a crescent shaped peninsula to the Aegean and the Pagasitic Gulf, washed by blue, crystal clear ocean. Numerous myths come from this region - this is the homeland of centaurs and the Argonauts, this region is also sung about in the bards of the war for freedom. It has been settled since ancient times and Pilion was already famous for its forests, olive groves, orchards and healing herbs. Here is where the wise centaur Cheiron taught demigods and heroes about hunting, traveling and healing; this is where the first beauty contest took place between Thetis and Eris. Pilion is forested, beautiful fern forests and bubbling waterfalls characterize this unique, rain forest-like region. The hidden mountain villages with traditional Pilion patrician houses are located like eagle nests on sharp summits.
About Pilion (continuation)
...once embedded in the lush, green vegetation on a wild stream. Stunning beautiful beaches and quiet bays by picturesque fishing villages make for an extremely charming combination with lush vegetation full of sycamores, olive groves, fruit plantations, coniferous woods and more than 2000 different types of plants and in the hidden alleys of the village you will discover the regions pride for tradition in their shops. Without a doubt, Kalamos is one of the most beautiful villages in Pilion. You will feel like you are in a paradise in your vacation residence on country paths with flowers of all colors past head streams to the blue sea and its endless, wide beaches.
