In Castelveccana, district of San Pietro you will find the holiday home 'La Rocca' on the mountain side at the half height of the cliffs with the same name & look at the idyllic, small village Caldé on the east shore of the Lago Maggiore. Piero Chiara, the author, born in Luino during the 20th century, described it as follows :'The happiest, best & most intimate location on the entire lake shore. A cliff cut into lime, once throned by a fortress at the foot there is a small, intact village decorated w/exclusiveness. Here the lake shows its trusting & powerful face of the 19th century! In Caldé, which can be reached on foot in 12 min & in 3 min by car, there are different restaurants, ice cream stores & pizzerias, supermarkets, pharmacy, barbershop, kiosk (German newspapers during the summer), post office & small train station & different beautiful, large, clean beaches, some even with showers & a small beach bar during the summer. Holiday complex with private pool & tennis courts.
