When French people buy or inherit a fine country mansion they often call it a 'maison de famille' or family home, meaning it has some of the following characteristics: lots of space, lots of rooms, a recognizable atmosphere, charm and patina, beautiful old furniture, above all a wonderful location and a huge ground plot. That’s what we are offering! Maison de Barbeyrac resides in 5 hectares of brilliant natural surroundings on a hill. At the highest point of a gentle southern slope you’ll see a bright green Basque country hillside that stretches as far as the blue Pyrenean range, although it’s only 8 km from Bayonne and the wonderful beaches of the south Atlantic coast. Sports lovers will enjoy the pool and private tennis court. This holiday house has 10 rooms for 14 persons to sleep in and enjoy. Furnishings and decoration are dignified and appropriate for the holiday house, without affecting the perfection.

Maison de Barbeyrac is situated almost exactly 8 km east of the ancient town of Bayonne and 3 km north of the banks of the Adour river, belongs to the old Basque village of St.Martin de Seignanx, which used to be a departement of this country. Ondres-Plocation and Chiberta/Anglet are the nearest Atlantic beaches and even Capbreton and Hossegor are a short car drive away. You’ll find good, cheap, supermarkets in the direction of Bayonne. In the beautiful old town there are of course lots of markets, fashion boutiques, art and craft shops, second-hand dealers and mention worthy local chocolate. There are lots of fine restaurants, local pubs, tapas bars and all kinds of gastronomic discoveries.

  • Other costs (water + electricity) are included, and central heating is a supplementary cost. Please bring bed linen and towels. It is possible for us to help with linen but not to supply everything. Final cleaning costs € 200 in addition to the rent. We require a breakages deposit of € 1500 cash or cheque on arrival at the holiday house. The breakages deposit will be returned on departure, unless damages are reported.
