You can find traces of its rich history in the restored Ciutadella De Roses .The town’s first major development was in the 3rd century A.D. Archeological finds of the remains of Barri Hel date from this period. Lenistic is the Airyenic quarter. In the 3rd century A.D. Roses was an important Roman town. In the 11th century the Church of St. Maria and a monastery were built, and later the village gradually grew up around it.
