Olargues is a historical village with 500 residents, it is located on a hill and surrounded by the Jaur river. This medieval settlement with origins from Roman times is considered one of the most important places of interest in the Haut Languedoc nature reserve and is a historical heritage site. It was awarded with the title 'The Most Beautiful Village in France'. Places of interest are the medieval Roman bridge, the castle ruins, the tower from the 13th century and the old winding lanes. There are many interesting sport activities nearby: Hiking in the Caroux mountains, swimming in the river and in the uniquely beautiful gorges (Gorges d'Héric and Gorges de Colombières), canoeing and kayaking on river Orb, rock climbing, horse riding, cycling (bike rental in the village). We recommend the limestone caves, Cathar castles, the Carcassonne fortress, trips to the ocean.
