Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas are the principal tourist centres in the south of Tenerife. With its town centre, port and sandy beaches, Los Cristianos offers a more traditional location to explore than the neighbouring resort of Las Americas. You´ll find daytime places where people meet up, as well as sandy beaches and promenades. In the evening you´ll find bars and restaurants to drop into both on the promenade and in the pedestrianised areas.
The holiday brochures promise sun, beaches and a complete leisure infrastructure. Los Cristianos certainly meets this promise. This south-west coast is also more protected from the wind than the south-east coast. The bay and the Guaza Mountain give additional protection. Beach-freaks are well aware of this, and wind-surfers will find better conditions elsewhere. The variety of different foods on offer in Los Cristianos is enormous. Around the harbour you´ll find plenty of fish dishes, homemade paella and Basque Country specialties.
