Trewithian Farm is no longer a working farm, although we keep horses. All around us are working farms and the fields are full of livestock. 'Trewithian' means 'town of trees' and there has been a house on this site since the fifteenth century. The land was given to a faithful soldier by Henry IV, so legend tells, and he named himself Stephan of Trewithian, the name has remained to this day, although other variations are also known locally.

Trewithian Farm is located centrally to reach all parts of Cornwall. Both north and south coasts are easily accessible. Cornwall is a very rural county with beautiful open countryside and large areas magnificent coasts. North coast is very dramatic with high cliffs and wonderful surf with many surfing resorts within easy reach. South coast has large, sandy beaches with palm trees and a milder climate. Historic fishing ports of Padstow, St Ives and Penzance still are home to fishing fleets. Sailing is very popular, particularly from the well known ports of Fowey and Falmouth. Wind surfing with schools and hire is also available. Trewithian Farm is on the edge of Bodmin Moor with its herds of semi wild ponies and sheep and cattle. There are many interesting walks over the Moor, places mentioned in Daphne Du Maurier books can be identified and visited on foot and by car. Dartmoor National Park is about half an hour's drive away with its high tors and spectacular scenery.

Trewithian Farm

Man erreicht in kürzester Zeit alle sehenswürdigen Touristenziele.
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Ein gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.

Wunderbares Cornwall

1158 Wilhelmshaven, Deutschland
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
