Self catering rental, open fire, private garden, pub and sea only 50m, sleeps 7

A spacious 18 century stone cottage with wonderful sea views and cliff views from many of the East facing windows and from the secluded patio to the front of the property, plus hill views from the terrace to the back of the property. Inside has been re-furbished to a high standard with a large eat in kitchen with all mod cons plus a separate dining room and a large double length living room with an open fire wood burning stove, TV including Sky channels and a down stairs shower room. There is also a small study/occasional bedroom on the ground floor. Upstairs there are 2 twin bedrooms and one double bedroom plus a family bathroom. The house also has both wireless and wired broadband internet connection. Situated 50 metres from the beach, the local pub and the South West Coastal path the house offers a perfect base for exploring the local area or simply relaxing and taking in the sea air. We are pet friendly and accept up to two dogs by arrangement.

Seatown is a charming Hamlet on the South West Dorset Coast. Seatown and the surrounding area are mostly under National Trust control and designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. In addition to the beach and the wonderful walking there are also local shops available in the pretty village of Chideock (1 mile). Bridport (3 miles) is the nearest town, with street markets on Wednesday and Saturday. The beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, steeped in history is also within easy reach. In the surrounding area there are plenty of attractions for all tastes from children's farms, water parks and a donkey sanctuary to beautiful gardens and country houses. The opportunity for great walking is huge with many guests returning year after year to explore the area. The famous Golden cap, the highest point on the South Coast is only 45 minutes walk from the house. For those who don't wish to move from Sea town itself there is a small seasonal shop plus a pub that serves excellent meals.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Weekends and Mid week breaks are offered in the low season for £377 for either a 3 night weekend Fri, Sat, Sun or a 4 night mid week Mon,Tue, Wed, Thu.
    If you would like any other days please contact me for a rate

    Generally we don't offer weekends and mid week breaks at other times of the year, however, if there is late availability we will consider a weekend or mid week break at 2/3 of the weekly rate.

    There is a security deposit required in addition to the rental of £50.00 which is returned at the end of your stay when all is well.
  • Dogs are charged at an additional £10 per dog per week or weekend as appropriate.
  • Rates from £377 for an off season weekend to £1170 for a high season week.

worth the trip

Fabulous place, great location a stone's throw from the beach and the pub.There were 6 of us and a dog and plenty of room to spare in the spacious accommodation. The kitchen is extremely well equiped for those who like to cook, although the pub serves food at reasonable prices. Centrally located , Lyme Regis is a must, Dorchester disappointing. There are some lovely villages to explore and the coast is beautiful. Will definitely return. Could be a bit manic in high season, the road to the property is narrow, although there are lots of passing places.
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Christmas 2008 @ The Guardhouse

The cottage website was incredibily accuate, all details and directions were easy to follow, The cottage itself was very homely and comfortable with all you would need for a family including a log burning stove with logs provided. When we arrived there was a fully decorated christmas tree awaiting us, a very lovely touch! Booking and queries were dealt with very quickly and professionally. The local area was stunning with fantastic walks and views, good level of fitness required for the hill walks!!! We had a very memorable break and would highly recomend this property.

Spacious 18 century cottage - vgery nice !!!!!

We spend one week in this nice house . And we love it all - 3 Adults and 4 Children ! The Owner is very friendly,the House lovely and clean.We`ll come back again!
