Cilento National Park:
The Cilento National Park offers an incredible wealth of destinations. Very worth a visit to the excavation of ancient sites, such as Pompeii, Paestum or Herculaneum, and the Greek philosopher's school Elea-Velia. You should also visit the Certosa of San Lorenzo (Padula). Also for lovers of unspoiled nature, there is a lot to discover. Whether it is the formal richness of the coast, with its many caves and the mountainous hinterland of both offers as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Biosphere Reserve-even rare animal and plant species are protected refuge.
Vaction place for four-seasons:
Also in spring and autumn the Cilento has a lot to offer: Extensive hiking or biking tours in the mountains, visiting the many archaeological excavations and areas and the medieval villages in the region.
We recommend to visit Elea-Velia (antic Greek town founded about 530 B.C.), The Temples Of Paestum (were built 2500 years ago) The Caves Of Castelcivita, The Monastery Of Padula, Pompeji and Herculaneum (buried by the eruption of Vesuvius 79 A.D.). San Severino (medieval mountain village which is left only some years ago) is also nice to visit and only a few minutes away by car.
Come and visit Marina di Camarota and see life and culinary art of southern Italy!
Further details about the village:
Some years ago the fishing fleet from Marina di Camerota was one of the famous fleets of the country. Even today you can observe small fishing boats and fishing vessels in the evening hours. Early in the morning the fishermen return to the port and unload their catch, now mainly exists from anchovies, tuna and swordfish. The fishing season and the olive harvest are in autumn. Marina di Camerota is a lively place even in off season and winter time and is suitable for hiking and sightseeing holidays or just to enjoy the warmer climate.
During the months of July and August there is along the port promenade hustle and bustle. There are countless bars and shops, children's bouncy castles, gambling, ring games and often a directly in the sand constructed cocktail bar with comfortable basket furniture. A typical Southern Italy market is on the sports field of the port every Saturday morning.
The village has several pharmacies and doctors, modern supermarkets as well as small business
