Enjoy the Italian lifestyle this summer in Barga, known as the 'Jewel of northern Tuscany'. Bars, restaurants, markets, all on your doorstep! In July and August open air concerts 'under the stars' organised by Barga Opera and Barga Jazz and you are just a few steps away! You can leave the car in the carpark and walk everywhere. To the quaint little local shops to buy fresh local produce which you can then cook in the luxurious kitchen or take it easy and eat in the numerous good restaurants some of which offer tourist menus at € 10. deal for those who enjoy a lively holiday and want to feel part of this magical old town. We leave a folder with our recommendations on the best bars and restaurants, places to visit and see. We can organise a local cook to cook for you in the Palazzo and even local musicians to play for you. Why not combine one week in Barga with a few days in Florence? We will be glad to book you into our favourite hotel there.

Barga is situated between the Appenine & Apuane mountains on the edge of the Garfagnana nature reserve. It lies at an altitude of 400 meters. Our palazzo is situated in the old town which dates back to the 10th Century. Its narrow stone-flagged alleys all lead up to the famous Duomo. The view from the Duomo terrace is breathtaking. The Duomo contains many art treasures. Many artists & musicians live in the town (known as Citta d'Arte) which has resulted in a summer full of open air concerts (Opera, Jazz, Blues etc) & art exhibitions. The open air swimming pool is 15 minutes walk away & riding & tennis are also available in the town. You can take the train or bus to Lucca, Pisa & Florence or go by car to Forte dei Marmi, Porto Venere, Cinque Terre, Sienna usw. Grotto del Vento, the Carrara marble caves & Garfagnana nature reserve (we can organise a walking guide by request) are all close by.
