The little town of Calahonda is right on the coast between Málaga and nearby, sophisticated Marbella and easy to get to via the motorway or the picturesque coastal road. In Calahonda there are restaurants and many kinds of shops. You can go for extended walks on the beach or days out to see the famous ‘white villages‘ and towns of Andalusia e.g. Seville, Ronda or Cordoba, all with historic old towns and cultural attractions (UNESCO world heritage site Alhambra). The town of Mijas has a village centre and famous donkey taxis and is over 420 m above the best view of the western coast of Málaga with the best tourist package of the whole coastal region. The flamenco festival in Mijas in July and the Feria in Malaga require the devoted assistance of the public for their lively music - or you might visit the famous Picasso museum in the old Palacio de Buenavista in Malaga.
