The west Algarves 'Vale da Telha':
The west Algarves form one of the most beautiful coasts in southern Europe. Original and romantic - that is particularly the nature reserve 'Costa Vicentina'. Go on long walks on the high plateau around Vale da Telha through untouched nature, breathe in the scent of rockroses and wild herbs and you will love the beauty of Portugal! The beaches:
Two beautiful beaches can be reached in a few minutes. Do you love the surf, a strong breeze, great waves and a beautiful beach with secret cliff niches? Then Monte Clerigo is your beach. If you love a wide bay with soft dunes, ideal for swimming and surfing, wave riding and similar things with bizarre rock formations, then Arrifana is your beach. Or if you are looking for a unique dune landscape with a lagoon reaching far into the land with still water, then drive to Praia de Amoreia. Every beach is unique, has clean, crystal-clear water, a blue sky, sun, tranquility, no hectic - what more could you want?
Aljezur and the area:
The small city of Aljezu, typical Portuguese, a little sleepy, but full of picturesque charm, offers tranquillity and sophistication. If you want life and more action, then drive 25 minutes to Lagos, the most beautiful city in the western Algarves! If you want to do more, drive three hours to the north and visit Portugal's attractive capitol of Lisbon. You can also take the intercity train, very comfortable and inexpensive. Or you can drive to the south and visit Albufeira - tourism capitol -, the water parks and aqua parks towards Faro or over the Spanish border - Sevilla can be reached in three hours. After all of these activities you will be happy to come back to the sophisticated tranquillity of Aljezur and Vale da Telha, eat fresh sardines from a wood coal grill or fresh fish, drink a good Portuguese red wine, enjoy the sun and the sophistication, time goes by slowly here.
