During the 1920s, the Prague Square (Prager Platz) was a cultural centre in West Berlin; located in the Bavarian Quarter - a quarter with high quality of life, the so-called Jewish Switzerland - which at the time belonged to Wilmersdorf and Schöneberg boroughs, a lot of Jewish cititzens, artists and intellectuals lived there; with 'Emil and the Detectives', Erich Kästner set a literary monument in the honour of Nikolsburger Platz.
