Peschiera del Garda is a popular holiday resort on the extreme southern point of Lake Garda. Beyond the town there are wide, pebbly beaches with lawns, which are open to the general public. In the town, one is surrounded by relics of the mediaeval and renaissance eras, with palaces, city walls and other protective fortifications giving the town its unmistakable atmosphere and reminding the visitor of Peschiera’s past as an impregnable lakeside fortress. Along the lakeside promenade („Lungo-Lago“) one can enjoy a pleasant stroll; from the harbour steamers or fast catamaran boats take you across the lake to many of the other towns. There are mini-golf and tennis courts, a sailing school, water skiing, motorboat trips and of course plenty of restaurants and tavernas. In the Mincio-Tal one can fish in peace or enjoy wonderful walks through the vineyards. Don’t forget to try the famous “Lugana” wine in the tavernas of the old town or in the surrounding countryside.
