Vaison la Romaine:
The property is only 3 km from Vaison la Romaine which contains excavations of the original Roman Settlements as well as the medieval town across the river. The modern town now is a lively thriving Festival Town with modern shops and delicatessens, a wonderful open air theatre and a huge market which takes over the town every Tuesday morning - one of the best in Provence - also exciting performances in the open air theatre during the festival in July/August every year. On Saturdays there is also a farmers market to enable one to buy fresh homegrown products. Wonderful wines to be tasted are around every corner as the property lies in the midst of some of the best Cotes du Rhone wineries.
Easy access and Privacy:
The property is surrounded by walls and has a courtyard garden with flower sand the swimming pool. This means that once the electric gates are shut you have complete privacy and security - everything can be left outside with no worry that anyone can overlook or be tempted to remove anything. The pool maintenance man has a key and comes once a week and the housekeeper also comes once a week unless requested more often. It is very romantic and atmospheric property with generous living accommodation. Although there is extra sleeping accommodation we do not intend to rent same due to the fact that we do not think it up to our usual standard, hence the generous living accommodation which consists of two self contained units with terrace and balcony as well as a family room with TV etc. and an outside summer kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwaves, sink and crockery and cutlery.
Riding:
One riding school is within walking distance from the property towards the town of Vaison la Romaine - there are also several more within a short drive away.
Ski:
Skiing is possible on Mont Ventoux in the winter though snowfall is not consistent. Summer mountain biking and touring wonderful as well as walking which is fantastic in this area.
Golf:
There are several golf courses in the area the nearest one being just outside Orage which is a friendly 9 hole course on which one pays a daily rate and can relax and have lunch or drinks under a covered terrace. Normally not too crowded unless there is a match. Several other smarter courses around Avignon and within a hours drive away.
